Lockheed Martin Mass Properties Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama

Our Mass Properties Engineers help ensure our spacecraft get payloads to the right orbit around our planet or around other objects in our solar system, help our missile systems intercept a threat and protect our troops, help deliver a payload with pinpoint accuracy, or help us develop smaller, lightweight directed energy weapons, so they can be deployed on a variety of platforms.

Basic Qualifications:

- US Citizenship with the ability to acquire and maintain a Secret security clearance.

- Experience within the mass properties field and as a part of a larger multi-disciplinary technical team.

- Experience with Creo.

- Technical expertise in sophisticated mass properties analysis, including identification and qualification of error sources in accuracy and uncertainty analysis, and performing coordinate transformations.

- Measurement experience and willingness to travel (Courtland and Troy production site support as needed).

- Experience with development and implementation of effective, low-cost methods of mass properties management and control.

- Self-starter, inquisitive, able to multitask and work independently.

- Strong written skills; preparing monthly or quarterly weight status reports and verbal communication; presenting mass properties summaries to management and customers.

Desired Skills:

- Active Secret security clearance.

- Demonstrated experience with mass properties on large programs, performing intricate estimations for preliminary design concepts and solving mass properties issues.

- Experience with configuration assessment and prediction of mass properties based on preliminary design models as well as the evolving released design.

- Creo design and analysis skills and data gathering using LM Scripts.

- MATLAB programming experience.

- Missile or space segment design and test experience with one or more subsystems or analysis areas outside of Mass Properties Engineering.

- Familiarity with manufacturing and assembly techniques and processes, developing test procedures and performing data reduction.

- Demonstrated experience and innovation in developing systems for high accuracy mass, center of gravity, and inertial measurements.

- Uncertainty analysis experience and familiarization with statistics.

- Ability to identify and resolve technical concerns with respect to weight reduction application and author Mass Properties procedures, practices, and/or specifications.

- Experience with Procedure writing.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
