Actalent Quality Control Manager in Huntington Beach, California

Job Title: Quality Control ManagerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Control Manager to develop, implement, and maintain our quality control system in compliance with quality standards. The successful candidate will promote a culture of quality compliance by developing staff members and communicating priorities and requirements across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate quality control activities with manufacturing managers and supervisors to ensure product reliability, product flow, and the reduction of quality discrepancies.

  • Develop quality metrics and communicate non-conformance issues to management in a timely manner to drive process changes and improve quality.

  • Establish and/or modify quality processes to improve operating efficiencies.

  • Drive quality supplier activities to improve the quality of inbound materials.

  • Perform inspections on both incoming parts and internal assembled products.

  • Test and inspect parts/products for dimensional, functional, and cosmetic standards to ensure requirements are met during all stages of receipt, production, and assembly.

  • Use measuring instruments and equipment (e.g., calipers, comparators, gages, micrometers, etc.) to accurately complete various levels of inspection.

  • Review process certification, raw material specifications, and certificates of analysis.

  • Assist with identifying and correcting quality issues and communicate to the team.

  • Have the authority to hold product(s) not meeting quality standards or that adversely affect overall customer satisfaction.

  • Complete necessary paperwork to fulfill customer and quality requirements (e.g., recording test data, quantities inspected, etc.).

  • Review product history records and other documentation for compliance with established procedures.

  • Participate in the calibration and gage control function, as required.

  • Document and correct quality issues by working with the internal teams and directly with vendors/suppliers.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

  • Knowledge of quality management system and its implementation.

  • Strong mechanical inspection experience, including methods, practices, and tools.

  • Dimensional inspection experience of precision machined parts or similar products.

  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and all applicable drawings.

  • Hands-on experience working with various inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gages, coordinate measuring machines, etc.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with high-end custom-building products, industrial pumps, valves, threaded products, fabricated luxury products, etc.

  • Ability to develop quality metrics and drive process changes.

  • Strong communication skills to effectively communicate non-conformance issues to management.

  • Experience in improving quality supplier activities.

  • Knowledge of Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) - quality control to determine the maximum number of defective items that can be considered acceptable.

Work Environment

This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The position is 100% onsite with no direct supervision of inspectors but involves heavy interaction with the entire quality team and department leads. The company operates across three large production/assembly buildings with a total of 300 employees. The primary activities include assembly, coating, inspection, finishing, and shipping/receiving in California. Manufacturing is outsourced. The work schedule is Monday to Friday.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
