Job Title: Design EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will use CAD systems to design 3D detailed components, create multi-level 3D assemblies, and generate 2D print drawings. You will also perform first article inspections and physical functional testing of products, as well as research and test material strengths and properties. Additionally, you will update and maintain product specification sheets, distribute specifications within the organization, and verify consistency in BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Use CAD system to design 3D detailed components

• Create multi-level 3D assemblies

• Create detailed component and assembly 2D print drawings

• Perform first article inspection/evaluation of newly sourced product(s)

• Perform physical functional testing of product(s) in test & assembly areas

• Research or test material strengths, behaviors, physical properties, etc.

• Use CAD system to perform changes and/or updates to product specifications sheets

• Distribute product specifications to various departments within the organization

• Update and maintain master BOM/Assembly drawings for all company products

• Verify that BOMs in MRP system are identical to master drawings

• Verify that part numbering is consistent throughout all BOMs

• Assist in creating Installation Instructions

• Update existing Installation Instructions to incorporate engineering changes

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD software with 2-5+ years of experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

• Experience with AutoCAD

• Experience with multi-level BOMs

• Experience with MRP/ERP systems

• Knowledge of various metal manufacturing processes

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in metal/mechanical product design

• Proficiency in 3D CAD design from A-Z

• Technical writing skills

Work Environment

The work environment consists of three large production/assembly buildings with a total of 300 employees, including 4-5 in the engineering department. This is a 100% onsite position with a Monday to Friday schedule. The facility primarily handles assembly, coating, inspection, finishing, and shipping/receiving in California. Manufacturing is outsourced. The company fosters a family-friendly environment and hosts various events such as company parties, food trucks, holiday events, and BBQs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
