Number of Positions: 1Salary: $85,400Location: Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson FallsWork Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:00 - 4:00The Principal for Special Programs provides leadership and supervision for the Exceptional Learners Division (ELD) Programs at the Southern Adirondack Education Center. Responsible for the overall student management on campus. Support building principals’ in planning and implementing all facets that lead to a better educational program and improved outcomes for all students. Other related duties may be required or directed. Provide service leadership that promotes a school culture and climate of multicultural social-emotional wellness, inclusion, diversity, equity and a sense of belonging for all students and staff Foster positive, solution-focused relationships with students, families, guardians, staff, districts, CSE’s, and counselors. Communicate effectively in oral and written form with individuals from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Assist staff and parents in the planning, development and implementation of individual student behavior, safety and academic plans. Be well versed in the Boys Town Classroom Management and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools Models. Provide leadership for students behavior management systems, plans, training and implementation. Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates. Counsel students and families about Southern Adirondack Education Center and BOCES policies including the Code of Conduct and Progressive Discipline Model. Monitor the reporting of student attendance/behavior/discipline referrals and collaborate with staff to develop strategies for addressing the concerns. Provide instructional leadership for the program. Ensure appropriate student assessment procedures in keeping with State Education Department mandates, as well as reviewing assessment results and making proper curriculum, instruction and program adjustments. Conduct professional performance reviews of instructional and non-instructional staff under supervision in accordance with the Annual Professional Performance Review Plan and the collective bargaining agreement; develop and monitor employee improvement plans as necessary. Provide leadership for the continual professional development of staff (individually and groups) to ensure a well-informed, skilled, engaged, innovative and motivated staff. Assist in the orientation of faculty and staff. Assure the health, safety and welfare of students and staff, within the framework of BOCES board policy, administrative guidelines and emergency management procedures. Assist the Principals’ in the overall administration of educational programs, implementation of the BOCES mission, monitoring and supervision of school facilities and perform other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as directed. Provide daily administrative leadership and coverage when one of the principals are absent or off campusMinimum RequirementsMaster’s DegreeVALID NYS teaching or Pupil Personnel Service Certification andAdministrative certification (SBL, SDA, or SAS)Five years of successful teaching or prior job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibilities in a school setting. Skills to manage students and programs, communicate effectively, problem solve. Knowledge of discipline procedures, safety procedures, district and BOCES policies, and special education regulations.
