KBR is looking for a Lead Project Cost Control Specialist (LPCCS) to join our team for an exciting opportunity supporting the USAID NexGen Global Health Supply Chain Program. This is a full-time position that will accommodate a hybrid remote/office work schedule, but will require occasional travel to the Washington, D.C. area and potential overseas travel. The LPCCS will work for the Business Manager, under the direct supervision of the Project Controls Manager, and is a key member of the cost control management team. Must be a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve goals.

Job Description

Lead Specialist, Project / Cost Controls is accountable for providing Project Controls services for the projects assigned. Forecasts, controls, and reports project costs needed within an organization. Develops and provides project variances, trending and analysis of expenditures, and completion reports. Reviews project costs incurred by category, calculates future costs based on labor productivity, material price increases, subcontract, wage rates and risk analysis. Under general direction, uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the project cost and schedule controls, change management, risk management, and reporting on major projects and/or a portfolio of smaller projects

  • Responsible for all aspects of cost control including trending, analysis, forecasting, change control, cash flow and reporting.

  • Drive effective execution of project control functions on various projects. Actively interfaces with project managers, supply chain and procurement specialists, and field execution personnel to obtain needed cost and schedule performance status updates for including into integrated project performance reporting.

  • Reviews project costs incurred by category, calculates future costs based on labor productivity, material price increases, subcontract, wage rates, and risk analysis.

  • Provides project priorities to project team members to drive project completion.

  • Actively participates in identification of negative trends and identifying corrective action recommendations to project manager and team members.

  • Review and audit cost, progress, and schedule reports that are prepared by others.

  • May direct resources, prioritize tasks, and provide guidance to less experienced team members.

  • Collaborate with Program Management, JV partner and Customer personnel to achieve financial and contractual deliverables.

  • Perform SOX reconciliations and project and process audits as needed

    Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Business Management, or similar) and 8+ years of experience in Project Controls.

  • Proficiency in project finance assessments, cost analysis, forecasting, budget development, scheduling, and variance reporting techniques.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

  • Preferred proficiency in Deltek/Costpoint, IFS, and Cobra

  • Must be able to self-lead and communicate effectively to all levels of project team, including management and clients.

  • Possesses broad industry knowledge of various cost and schedule tools. Keeps current on industry's developments.

  • Will need to supervise and develop junior project controls personnel, when required

  • Prior experience working with USAID contracts preferred
