Job Description :

Indorama Integrated Oxides & Derivatives is currently looking for a TS&D Scientist to join our HPC Team in The Woodlands, TX. The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance to Indorama’s HPCs’ customers to sustain the current business and for developing new sales at these customers or new accounts. The position can accomplish the goal through customer relationship building, by new product development, and/or application services in conjunction with technical presentations, etc. This position ensures products meet the client’s exact standards (internal and external); conducts research, analysis, synthesis, and experimentation on substances, for such purposes as product and process development and application; develops new product concepts including proprietary blends using both products and co-producer products; and compiles applications information specific to the product line and interfaces with internal and external customers to solve specific product/market needs. The scientist would lead product and process developments for the HPC market. The individual would also independently evaluate, select, and apply standard chemistry / Household/Personal Care, I&I application knowledge to solve customer or company objectives based on direct customer interactions. Finally, the scientist would present results to external customers, regionally, with global interactions.

What will be expected from you?

• Regional Key Account technical relationship management—grows customer intimacy on various levels with key, strategic, and regional accounts.

• Work with the sales force to evaluate, select and apply standard chemistry techniques and procedures to solve customer challenges or company objectives under the direction of the R&D Technical Service and Development management.

• Actively develop new opportunities/concepts that deliver value to customers to meet business targets.

• Keep track of customer interaction or calls by reporting on customer relationship management platform.

• Set up and execute laboratory to meet both internal and external customer expectations.

• Developing methods to analyze samples or the applications testing to prove claims.

• Maintain an awareness of the literature and other sources of information to remain current with developments in the HPC market for products/chemistries of interest to the Corporation.

• Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard chemistry techniques and procedures to solve customer or company objectives based on direct customer interactions.

• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively meet deadlines using the project management system (PMOx).

• Present results to internal and external customers via reports and presentations.

• Present work at public forums like conferences and publish papers and articles.

• Manage and optimize all process under your responsibility taking into consideration Quality, Legality and HPC client needs on Indorama’s products and services.

• Guarantee all documentation under your responsibility updated and available for consulting.

• Keep neat and orderly notebooks containing a record of all work performed. Maintain other records as necessary to support patent applications for innovative products.

• Maintain an orderly and safe laboratory space.

• Follow all safety and training requirements.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

• B.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or Polymer Chemistry/Engineering preferred plus 10 years’ experience, or

• M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or Polymer Chemistry/Engineering preferred plus 6 years’ experience, or

• Ph. D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or Polymer Chemistry/Engineering with 4 years of industrial experience.

• 5+ years’ experience in the HPC/I&I market segment preferred, 10+ years’ experience highly preferred.

• Knowledge in HPC/I&I formulations such as: Liquid detergents, Hard surface cleaners, ADW, etc.

• Excellent organizational and communications skills.

• Computer literacy with databases, word processing and spreadsheets.

• Demonstrated presentation skills required.

• English with Bilingual preferred.

• Minimum travel requirement: 10 – 20 %
