Saint-Gobain Sr Reliability Engineer in Houston, Texas

What’s the job?

The Sr Reliability Engineer will drive technical equipment improvements and manage engineering and product change development. This role involves assessing mechanical requirements, implementing technology advancements, and optimizing equipment to enhance safety and efficiency. The engineer will work closely with EHS to improve operations risk scoring, enhance first-time quality, and reduce waste. A key aspect of the role includes collaboration across CBI Sites and departments, as well as providing training to engineering and manufacturing teams as needed.

Daily scope of work

  • Production support

  • Troubleshooting production processes to alleviate manufacturing process losses

  • Supports maintenance in any onsite or outsources the repair and maintenance of Equipment , and ensures equipment is serviceable at all times

  • Supports EHS in Control of contractors

  • Support projects and change orders ( MOC) being conducted by colleagues

  • Conduct Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) to determine root cause and remediation of repetitive defects/issues

  • Assess and authorize process deviations

  • Advise on root causes of non-conforming materials

Business Process Integration:

  • Partner with Engineering, Configuration Management, and Manufacturing to elicit, analyze, and translate business requirements into technical requirements.

  • WCM project support and implementation

  • Member of CBI Engineering pit crew – supporting all sites to ensure alignment of equipment, parts, maintenance, strategy, etc.

  • This position will work closely with CBI’s Engineering Team, Operations, and Quality to implement and maintain the sites’ Engineering Systems.

Project Management

  • Initiate and manage change order requests which include but not limited to elements of environment, health and safety, purchasing, quality, and engineering

  • Plans, develops, and executes projects to reduce waste through improved manufacturing and process efficiency, using WCM methodologies

  • Initiate formal requests for capital equipment using substantiated justifications

  • Implement new processes and equipment by using product validations

  • Updating validations as needed due to process changes

  • Troubleshooting

  • Drafting and editing SOPs

  • Training

World Class Manufacturing (WCM)

  • Pillar activities

  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management

  • Performance Control System (PCS) management

  • Lead and coach multifunctional Kaizen teams

  • Auditing of pillar and kaizens

What do you bring?

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Manufacturing Reliability Engineer or similar (required)

  • Experience with electrical systems, including the ability to perform minor troubleshooting tasks.

  • Knowledge of ISO, GMP.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

  • Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Solidworks or AutoCad-

  • Continuous Improvement (WCM, Kaizen) green belt training or higher-

  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Project) -

  • Must have critical thinking skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses or alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems -

  • Ability to lead, manage and motivate a team. - Must be able to work well in a team environment, adapt to change and obtain the ability to directly influence in a positive manner
