Responsible Lead for engineering, design, specification and services related to information technology networks, plant wide telecommunications, and information technology systems for large scale petrochemical complexes. Under minimal supervision, performs all conventional aspects of the functional area subject matter. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Plans, schedules, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs work which involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers. Job tasks, correctly performed, impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations. Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 16 years related experience, with average experience of 16 plus years. Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as a fully trained professional. Work requires a broad knowledge of precedents. Also may be responsible for leadership of a functional area on a small project or a segment of a larger project. As the lead, plans, budgets, organizes, coordinates and controls the project and is responsible for employee performance appraisals and for coaching and developing lower level professionals.

The IT System Engineer or Systems Architect shall be a trained professional in the IT and Telecommunications field. The Engineer shall be experienced in the development and strategic implementation of computer systems and IT networks. The IT Systems architect will plan the architecture of computer network systems that satisfy the project requirements. The Engineer shall be able to think through an organizational business purpose and define the systems solutions, scope, resources, and power requirements. The Engineer shall be able to define the data storage requirements based on the business needs. The candidate shall be versant in definition of the IT systems requirements that determine the design of a data center. The Engineer shall also define the Cyber Security requirements.

The IT Engineer will be expected to, independently apply advanced engineering techniques, make decisions on engineering problems and methods, and represent the organization in meetings to resolve important questions or to negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations. Experience with IT/Telecom systems detailed drawing production via a computer aided drawing package is a plus! Job role is responsible for a measurable asset such as an assigned staff and budget. Skills are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 16 years related experience, with average experience ranging from 16 plus years.

Responsibilities:

· Work on large size engineering projects with minimal supervision.

· Prepare accurate and complete designs and calculations as required to meet project requirements.

· Conduct field investigations when needed; produce field reports with detailed sketches.

· Coordinate with other disciplines and assist engineers and/or designers to ensure effective quality product.

· Keep up to date on new engineering processes, techniques, and IMS and standards.

· Investigate and resolve unusual design and field engineering problems by devising new approaches.

· Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used.

· Resolve project issues and problems.

· Provide technical guidance to the design team.

· Collaborate with design team to maximize design value.

· Provide employee performance feedback to discipline manager.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification/ Certification:

· BS degree in Engineering with 16 plus years of hands-on IT/Telecommunications engineering experience required as it applies to petrochemical, midstream or other heavy industries.

· Excellent verbal, written communication skills required.

· Knowledge of Instrument calculation computer applications.

· Ability to integrate new technologies into daily work processes.

· Experience working with other disciplines understanding their interface requirements.

· Experience with design and/or construction of plants desirable.

Skills Requirement:

· MS Office (Must be highly proficient in Excel and Word, working knowledge in Access)

· MS Office (Excel and Word) and product proficiency required.
