TEKsystems Sr DevOps Practice Architect (Full-Time Remote) in Houston, Texas

Job Summary:

The DevOps Practice Architect position is a leadership position in the Platform organization, and it is responsible for managing multiple consulting and delivery projects, teams, and programs. The DevOps Practice Architect provides consulting and delivery assurance of services for clients through a range of internal and external functions. The position of DevOps Practice Architect is distinguished from more senior Practice Architect positions by the nature of the engagements or programs involved; deal sizes range from transactional solutions of $2-5M. A Practice Architect is expected to have the experience and background to perform all the duties described below for engagements that are focused on consulting/delivery management within the defined subject matter area, including resource management, deliverables development, project planning, and executions, adherence to contract attributes and costing, customer interaction, and other key aspects of solution-based managed services.

For a DevOps Practice Architect, these engagements will typically be delivered for a North American customer or at the customer location, usually North American-based. They are expected to have adequate level skills required for complex deliverable-based, fully outsourced, or extremely large-scale engagements or programs and lead the delivery effort to a larger cross-functional project/program.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in DevOps and Cloud services architecture, presales, delivery, and operational excellence. They will provide expert-level support for strategic ongoing and new TGS client initiatives. They will work amongst our other key partners to assist in developing robust cloud offerings and bring holistic solutions across key focus areas of TGS DevOps strategic objectives. Provide leadership, expertise, and support for DevOps and Cloud engagements through a range of internal and external functions in the following areas:

Engagement Support: Provide support for newly won deals through the transition and delivery phases while partnering with the Delivery organization to ensure projects are started and delivered according to DevOps practice guidelines and methods.

Engagement Delivery: Drive the transition phase and the setup of the engagement operating model, help define metrics, and support the delivery of a defined statement of work. Help identify opportunities for service improvements.

Practice Support: Provide input, expertise, and implement changes into the design, development, and improvement of service offerings and back-office procedures; assist in the research and development of new offerings and analyze competing offerings to ensure the practice is current and competitive within the market; create and maintain practice artifacts that document key methods, processes, and delivery tools.

Human Resources: Assist with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding project team members during the initial DevOps engagement phase.

Pre-Sales Support: Provide technical opinions, methodology recommendations, work estimates, and solution support to solution architects and executives as required.

Additional responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • CI/CD tool setup and configuration, as well as integration

  • Pipelines for build and deployment

  • Version Control

  • Automated Testing

  • Deployment Automation tools

  • Security Scanning

  • Monitoring/Logging

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience managing infrastructure using code in an IaC language (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).

Release Management: Experience managing releases for client applications/systems and coordinating deployment schedules.

Configuration Management: Experience using various tools/processes to ensure consistent configurations across environments. This includes helping automate the deployment of software and managing updates.

Monitoring & Logging: Experience setting up monitoring tools for application performance, infrastructure health, and metrics. This includes helping set up logging frameworks for lower environment troubleshooting and analysis and implementing proactive monitoring and alerting.

Security and Compliance: Experience integrating security practices into the DevOps lifecycle to ensure compliance with Client standards and best practices. This includes security controls, audits, and compliance checks, as well as managing access controls and secrets management.

Performance Measurement and Reporting: Experience implementing measurement/metrics Framework(s). Strongly prefer experience implementing DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) metrics baseline.

DevSecOps Coaching and Consultation: Experience performing continuous assessment of current processes and improvement recommendations. This includes individual coaching of client team members on DevSecOps practices, tools, and methodologies, as well as support and troubleshooting assistance related to infrastructure, deployments, and automation.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science is preferred.

Must have a minimum of 15 years of Information Technology experience.

Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a DevOps Architect.

Must have an Architect certification in AWS, Azure, or Google.

Must have 5 years of application development in a core language (Java, C++, Python, C#, Ruby, etc.).
