MD Anderson Cancer Center Senior Sterile Processing Technologist - 2nd Shift in Houston, Texas

Perioperative Services strives to be the safest perioperative environment in the world, to have the highest quality of perioperative outcomes, and to demonstrate the core values in our vision. Partnered with Anesthesiology and Critical Care, the Division of Nursing and the Division of Surgery, this multidisciplinary team performs more than 15,000 surgical cases each year in more than 30 operating rooms spanning the Main Building and Mays Clinic.

The ideal candidate for the Senior Sterile Processing Tech position will be certified with a minimum of two years of hospital-based sterile processing experience. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs duties and troubleshoots in all areas of sterile processing to include decontamination, assemble, sterilization of advanced instrumentation and equipment while adhering to the manufacturer and department guidelines. Identifies and inspects instruments for cleanliness and functionality. Operates and troubleshoots equipment. Maintains safety standards. Prepares case carts and delivers instrumentation to the operating room. Stocks operating room par levels for stored instrumentation and emergency carts.

Education

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Diploma from an approved Sterile Processing Program.

Experience

Required: Two years hospital-based sterile processing experience. With preferred education, no experience is required.

Certification/Licensure

One of the following: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM). Certified Sterile Processing Distribution Technician (CSPDT) by the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD). Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
