Job Description

We're hiring a Senior Project Controls Manager to support the Project Management Teams Center of Excellence responsible for managing Grace's Capital Project Portfolio. You will report to the Director Capital Projects Execution Americas and lead/oversee a team consisting of employees and contractors. As a Senior Project Controls Manager your primary responsibility will be to focus on reporting, estimating, budget, cost controls, scheduling, and cost & schedule risk management.

The ideal candidate will from our Houston, TX (Downtown Two Allen Center) location work a hybrid schedule: Mon, Wed, Thurs in the office and Tues & Friday from home. We will also consider candidates who would work from other Grace gulf coast locations and travel to Houston for team meetings. You would work the hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, monitoring, and cost control and reporting of Central Team Project Portfolio and the individual projects within the portfolio.

  • Developing and maintaining the Project Controls Systems, GPM, Project Schedules, Progress Measurement Systems, Project Control Logs, Manpower Histograms, S-Curves, Cost Estimates, Budgets, Cost Controls, Cash Flow, and other Control documents.

  • Manages and represents the Project Controls Team (Project Controls Lead, Cost Engineer, Estimator and Planning Engineer).

  • Engages and provides guidance to Central Project Management Team to ensure project progress and spending are accurately reported and forecasted.

  • Provides contractor oversight, including coordination procedures, project controls data needs, review of contractor progress reports and invoices, contractor developed cost and schedule estimates, etc.

  • Evaluates project costs and schedules with respect to industry norms and provides analysis to Management and Project Managers.

  • Support financial controls including controlling authorizations of expenditure and cash flow projections.

  • Supports Project Managers with Risk Management / Register.

  • Takes the lead with CSRA activities for major projects.

  • Works at details level to produce the necessary project controls data.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Engineering discipline or Construction, highly preferred. Other degrees may be considered if combination of experience is relevant.

  • 12+ year's relevant project controls experience (Budget, Cost, Risk, Schedule, Estimating) in the Chemical / industrial sectors.

  • Well versed in the project development process (FEL1, 2 & 3, Execution and Close Out).

  • Proven track record on client side of projects.

  • Proven track record in management / leadership of Contractors (Eng, E&P, GC, EPC, EPCM)

  • Ability to travel as needed up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Implementation of an Earned Value / CPI / SPI project progress monitoring system.

  • Cost and Schedule Risk analysis

  • Ability to communicate critical path activities, risks, and project tracking metrics clearly and concisely.

  • Ability to manage the reporting and forecasting of a portfolio of many, simultaneous projects, globally.

  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills and data analysis.

  • Is proficient using Primavera, Accolade, SAP, MS Office systems and other data management, accounting, or project management systems.
