Robert Half Property Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description

Our client is looking for a driven Property Accountant to join their team based in Houston, Texas. As a new team member, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy of our financial records, specifically focusing on balance sheet account reconciliations, general ledger account analysis, preparation of journal entries, and monthly reporting to investors. This role is also responsible for managing real estate transactions and conducting variance analysis.

Responsibilities:

• Ensuring the accuracy of investor reporting through detailed balance sheet account reconciliations

• Conducting monthly general ledger account analysis and preparing accruals as necessary

• Accurately preparing and recording journal entries to the general ledger

• Reconciling capitalized expenses, including on real estate development projects

• Collaborating with internal Property Managers & Asset Managers to guarantee the accuracy and completeness of monthly/quarterly reporting

• Preparing and submitting monthly reporting packages to investors

• Performing variance analysis between properties’ actual operating performance versus budget

• Analyzing and preparing closing entries for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and financings

• Conducting cash management functions, and researching & resolving issues as needed

• Assisting in the annual budget preparation process

• Reviewing operating and tax expense reconciliations as required by governing documents (leases, management agreement, etc.)

• Taking on special projects on an as needed basis

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in property accounting or related field

• Proficiency in using Yardi software is preferred

• Solid understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting

• Experience out of audit with Real Estate clients

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
