Robert Half Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director in Houston, Texas

Description Our client is hiring a Payroll Manager (Inflation Reduction Act for Clean Energy industry experience). Client has an international footprint, and they are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Manager (Inflation Reduction Act for Clean Energy industry experience) to join their finance team to process and manage for the US payroll. The ideal Payroll Manager candidate should have substantial expertise in payroll processing, efficiency in handling compliance matters, and, notably, experience dealing with the Inflation Reduction Act for clean energy. Responsibilities: • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. • Prevailing wage and ensuring that that payroll is complying with tax credit • Multiple entity • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, and best practices. • Compile and prepare regular reports for management purposes. • Prepare General ledger entries, record payments and adjustments. • Reconcile payroll reports with bank statements. • Ensure accurate distributions relating to 401(k), benefits, and taxes. • Understand regulatory guidelines and rules under the Inflation Reduction Act pertaining to clean energy, ensure that these are accounted for in payroll adjustments. • Offering training to the payroll team on the interpretation and implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act as it pertains to clean energy and payroll. • Supervise and coach the payroll team. • Payroll tax experience • Interact with auditors and manage payroll tax audits Key Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. • Proven work experience as a payroll manager or similar role • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices • Experience with payroll software • High degree of professionalism • Excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail • Strong IT skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel • Previous and demonstrable experience dealing with the Inflation Reduction Act for clean energy. • Strong leadership qualities and team-working skills Preferred: • detail oriented certification (e.g., Certified Payroll detail oriented - CPP) • Experience in a clean energy industry • Good understanding of the latest trends and technologies in the payroll industry The successful Payroll Manager will be responsible for ensuring all payroll procedures are followed and comply with the current regulatory environment, notably empathizing with the Inflation Reduction Act for clean energy. Requirements • Extensive experience of 7 or more years in a Payroll Manager role. • Proficiency in Prevailing Wage. • Experience with Accounting Close Process. • Familiarity with Full Cycle Payroll. • Ability to manage Payroll for Unionized employees. • Knowledge of Clean Energy industry is preferred. • Proficient in Microsoft Excel. • Experienced in Payroll Tax Reporting. • Comprehensive knowledge of Payroll Taxes. • Excellent communication and leadership skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. • Certification as a Payroll detail oriented (CPP) is preferred. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion. • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills. • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
