MD Anderson Cancer Center Manager Public Safety in Houston, Texas

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.

The primary purpose of the Manager, Public Safety position is to provide responsible management, budget performance monitoring and performance management decisions in the UTP-H Uniformed Security Operations Public Safety (PSO) Program. This position will be responsible for security operations, planning, implementation and management of all public safety programs on behalf of the police department. Identifies risk mitigation efforts, creates and implements staffing models to ensure the Public Safety Officer program remains aligned with UT Police proection models. Contributes to the safety and security of patients, students and staff communities.

Leadership and Administration: Provides leadership to the UTP-H uniformed security operations Public Safety program. Effectively manages the uniformed security operations operating expenses, tracks financial performance and assists in budget planning. Develops and communicates with direct reports and line level staff within all PSO program initiatives and annual goal plans for the uniformed securuty operations unit. Implements security measures through standard operating procedures and public safety post orders. Monitors adherence to SOPs and post orders byb conducting site inspections and proper follow up throughout all shifts and posts. Assists in all discipline and performance management matters for the USO program. Provides guidance and interprets policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Security Management and Planning : Works with key stakeholders to develop PSO security strategies and ensures compliance with institutional policies and procedures. Coordinates with shift commanders, executive leadership and institutional partners to assess security needs and independently provides strategic solutions. Analyzes threat risks and develops the PSO staffing model in spport of the combines protection model and operational priorities. Actively participates in security meetings to identify, discuss and provide solutions to institutional security issues.

Program Management: Manages complex institutional security programs on behalf of UTP-H. Coordinates and manages the operational aspects of Visitor Management, UTP-H Bike Patrol and othe security focused programs. Responsible for the creation of all HAL security operation planning. Reviews and approves requests for specialized assignments, instsitution and community special events and generates the appropriate security plan. Collaborates with others to identify risk assessment and implements the adequate staffing assignments to support and delivery appropriate security services based on the needs of patients, staff and the surrounding community.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field.

Required Experience: Seven years of experience in security management and/or law enforcement to include two years of supervisory or management experience.

Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Valid Texas Class A, B, or C driver's license. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
