Phillips 66 Manager, Origination - Americas (Bilingual) in Houston, Texas

The Manager, Origination - Americas plays a pivotal role in enabling the consistent growth of Commercial Supply and Trading through tenders participation, new market and Customer development, delivering term short and long positions, and gaining access to structural trading assets for the global crude, clean products and , renewables as well as gas & power trading desks (crude oil, gasoline, distillates, blending components, renewables and feedstocks & fuels, heavy oils as well as power and natural gas). Based in Houston, the primary focus of the Manager, Origination – Americas is leading the expansion of markets throughout Canada, US and LATAM with a specific emphasis on LATAM emerging markets. The position is a senior supervisory position that requires strong commercial skills and leadership. The incumbent is expected to collaborate with the Global Origination team on cross-commodity opportunities that have a broad global impact.

Responsibilities May Include

  • Develop a 5-year plan for origination in the Americas, in line with the Global Origination Strategic Plan, to include financial targets, regional development plans and the associated staffing strategies.

  • Work collaboratively with global trading commodity leads, local trading desk heads, global market analysis resources and other supporting functions to prioritize origination opportunities in the region based on current and projected gaps for Phillips 66.

  • Supervise and assist with staffing origination function.

  • Build, maintain and enhance a strong network of customer relationships in target markets.

  • Source, negotiate and close profitable deals for the global trading desks in line with prioritized opportunity lists, and ensure smooth transition of closed deals to Trading desks for execution.

  • Deliver deals to exceed net income targets defined in origination plans (P&L measurement to be done on trading desks but origination function will track NPV based value-add associated with their deals).

  • Manage contract disputes if any arise during the term of the origination contracts.

  • Ensure all compliance requirements are met by the origination team, with zero policy breaches.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 10 or more years of specific commercial activities or experience (scheduling, contract writing, negotiations, trading, business development, or project management)

  • 5 or more years of experience in a trading or origination role

  • Experience in risk and/or supply chain activities

  • Fluent in written and spoken Spanish

  • Up to 50% travel on an as needed basis

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with structured trade finance

  • Negotiation experience

  • Deal creation and execution experience

  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, independent worker with demonstrated integrity toward a team first mentality

  • Experience in resource allocation, financial analysis, and forward planning / strategy

  • Effective oral and written communication as well as strong presentation skills

  • Strong desire to improve results and drive significant contribution

The Commercial organization works to effectively leverage assets and market knowledge to create additional value within the risk parameters of the Company. Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations. Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.
