NuScale Power Manager, Assistant Controller in Houston, Texas

NOTE: This position will be based out of our Houston, TX office.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Manager, Assistant Controller reports to the Director, Controller. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, management of all aspects of day-to-day accounting operations and related personnel, management of the month-end close process, overseeing all transactions related to the general ledger, and reviewing general ledger reconciliations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain general ledger, including review and approval of journal entries, cash payments, cash receipts, accounts payable vouchers and accounts receivable invoices

  • Manage the monthly close process including oversight of the supplier, payroll and other expense accrual processes and ensuring that team month-end close deadlines are met

  • Manage general ledger and accounts payable personnel. Coach and develop these roles by providing clear objectives, timely performance feedback, and career development opportunities

  • Review monthly account reconciliations performed by general ledger personnel

  • Administer fixed asset accounting, depreciation accuracy, timeliness of asset write-offs, associated reporting and annual physical inventory

  • Dedication to continuously improving accounting processes and documentation, and leading process improvement initiatives

  • Manage preparation of property tax returns, annual 1099 reporting, census reports and other filings as needed

  • Support Controller in financial statement audits, incurred cost audits, and internal audits

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor ’s degree in Accounting or a related business field is required. An advanced degree and/or Certified Public Accountant designation is preferred.

  • Experience: A minimum of eight years of full-time accounting experience, with at least three years of supervisory/managerial experience, is required. Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams , as well as independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Additional required or preferred skills are as follows:

  • Significant knowledge of US GAAP and SOX

  • Demonstrated proficiency of accounting/auditing in a multi-company environment adhering to SOX

  • Proven ability to analyze operational results

  • Demonstrated proficiency identifying and driving process improvement initiatives

  • ERP system experience in a SOX environment is required; experience with ERP implementation preferred, but not required

  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

    Pay and Benefits:

    The target pay range for this position is $119,043 - $143,673 annually. The full pay range is $106,728 - $166,934.
