Superior Completion Services is currently seeking a Tool Inspector I for our office in Houston, TX.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of new and rental product.

  • Perform functional tests on piece parts.

  • Perform inspection of assemblies.

  • Perform visual inspection of components and assemblies in accordance with applicable documents.

  • Work with customer inspectors in the examination of product.

  • Assist Engineering and Operations in the investigation of product failures.

  • Assist outside suppliers with problems related to subcontracted parts.

  • Assist in the training of other personnel as required.

  • Perform simple calibrations and maintain records for various tools, instruments, and gauges used in the manufacturing and inspection processes.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Familiar with, and knowledgeable in the use of, the typical measuring tools used for mechanical inspection such as dial calipers, micrometers, hardness testers, optical contour projector, hard gauges and Gage maker Mic-Trac system.

  • Familiar with current health, safety & environmental (HSE) training as per division training matrix (Including regulatory and SES required courses).

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote safe operations.

  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, including programming used for Quality Control and Inspection activities.

  • Applicable PPE required to complete assigned tasks.

  • Must have a working knowledge of high school mathematics including algebra and trigonometry.

  • Familiar with Quality Systems and requirements.

  • Reading and understanding specifications and other work-related documents.

  • Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and recommend solutions.

  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

  • Must be able to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, drawings, schematics, diagrams, sketches, and / or specifications

BEHAVIORAL ABILITIES

  • Ability to work on-call 24 hours for 7 consecutive days.

  • Ability to safely operate, and maintain the equipment used in the daily performance of their activities.

  • Ability to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.

  • Accurately complete/maintain necessary reports / records in a timely and legible manner, according to applicable procedures and/or work orders.

  • Commit to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.

  • Organize tasks and responsibilities in manner that maintains production output standards.

  • Use time efficiently.

  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision.

  • Communicate effectively within and across departments.

  • Deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.

  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Must be detail oriented.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/Physical Requirements

  • Sitting - for extended period of time without being able to leave the work area

  • Standing -for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area

  • Lifting – Please indicate the weight and amount of time spent on lifting activities, up to 50 pounds.

  • Carrying - regularly carries objects in his/her arms or on the shoulder(s)

  • Grasping - regularly picks up objects with fingers

  • Reaching - regularly required to use hands and arms to reach objects

  • Color Determination – requires color determination (no color blindness)

  • Speaking - requires expressing ideas by the spoken word

  • Listening - requires the perception of speech or the nature of sounds in the air
