Position Summary: As a Healthcare Economics Consultant, you will be responsible for analyzing healthcare costs, devising strategies to manage expenses, and providing data-driven insights to enhance patient care. In the role, you will synthesize and present insights using Apex BI solutions, applications, and analytical reports. The Healthcare Economics Consultant will work closely with team members to gain an understanding of trends and patterns within both clinical and administrative data sources to identify opportunities which address cost, utilization, quality, risk, patient experience, etc. You will play a critical role in mining data sources, analytical solutions and creating insights and actionable strategies for our clients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Analyze and interpret healthcare data sets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization of financial outcomes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and validate data, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Utilize statistical methods and tools to extract actionable insights from large datasets. Identify areas for cost savings and operational efficiency within healthcare processes. Contribute to the development of reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate key findings to stakeholders. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and advancements to inform analysis and recommendations. Prepare and present reports to both technical and non-technical audiences. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Data Analytics, Health Administration, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in Healthcare Economics or Analytics roles with demonstrated expertise working with paid claims, eligibility, authorization, and other applicable data sets to support analysis. Knowledge of healthcare data (claims, medical coding, providers, member eligibility, value based reimbursement etc.). Intermediate SQL coding skills and general understanding of databases, schemas, ETLs. Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel. Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing using language understandable to management and employees. Demonstrated ability to understand complex healthcare financial, clinical, and operational issues. Preferred: Master’s degree in technical or healthcare field. Understanding and working experience with Power BI and/or Tableau. Background in healthcare (working for a provider or payer). Strong organizational skills, excellent analytical skills, commitment to customer service; ability to problem solve; strong presentation skills throughout all levels of the organization.
