Aramco Services Company Head of Derivatives Trading (1490) in Houston, Texas
Position Overview:
The Head of Derivatives Trading will lead the centralized derivatives desk, overseeing futures, options, and swaps trading. This position is pivotal in acting as an internal broker for the company’s physical desks, managing existing and anticipated physical price risks while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The role will be responsible for guiding the team in executing financial trades that support physical trading desks and maintaining risk management processes. The Head of Derivatives Trading will report to senior leadership and will play a key role in driving innovation and process efficiency across the trading function.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategy:
Lead and manage the derivatives trading desk, providing oversight on all financial trading activities (futures, options, swaps) that support physical price risk management.
Develop and implement a strategic vision for the derivatives desk, aligning it with the company’s broader risk management and financial objectives.
Ensure that the derivatives desk operates in compliance with all internal policies and external regulatory requirements, maintaining open communication with trade compliance
Execution & Oversight:
Supervise and execute futures, options, and swap orders on behalf of physical desks, utilizing screen-based tools, third-party platforms, and broker relationships.
Monitor and manage trading positions relative to limits, and handle position rollovers into expiry, while optimizing order aggregation to prevent wash trades.
Provide regular updates on end-of-day P&L estimates for Product Control and margin call estimates for Treasury.
Technology & Innovation:
Spearhead the development and implementation of technological solutions to improve trade execution, operational efficiency, and data analysis capabilities.
Oversee the rollout of new Order Management Systems (OMS) and ensure proper training and execution best practices are followed across the team.
Collaboration & Support:
Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including coordination with FCMs and affiliates on intercompany swaps.
Collaborate with mid and back-office functions, such as Product Control, Treasury, and Accounting, to ensure smooth reconciliation processes and accurate reporting.
Serve as a back-up for FCM communications and approvals for new financial products.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in commercial roles within trading, broking, or supply chain organizations.
Strong leadership and team management skills with experience building and overseeing trading desks.
Expertise in derivatives markets, including futures, options, and swaps, with a strong understanding of risk management principles.
Technologically proficient with experience in implementing trade execution systems and developing innovative trading solutions.
Strong ability to operate in high-pressure environments with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (finance, economics, or a similar discipline).
Legal authorization to work full-time in the U.S.
Must be able to work in an office environment located in downtown Houston, TX.
