Houston Methodist Geriatrics Opportunity – Houston Methodist- Texas Medical Center (Leading Hospital System)! in Houston, Texas

Houston Methodist Hospital (HMH) , is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physician specializing in Geriatrics to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive medical care to elderly patients, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting older adults. This role requires excellent clinical skills, a deep understanding of the aging process, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for our senior patients.

Located in the Texas Medical Center, this is an excellent opportunity to join the #1 Hospital System in Texas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care : Provide primary and specialty care for geriatric patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions.

  • Assessment: Conduct thorough physical examinations, assess patient medical histories, and develop individualized care plans.

  • Medication Management: Prescribe and manage medications, ensuring appropriate dosages and monitoring for potential side effects or interactions.

  • Coordination of Care: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.

  • Family Communication: Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and ongoing care needs.

  • Health Promotion: Promote healthy aging practices, preventive care, and lifestyle modifications to enhance the well-being of elderly patients.

  • Education: Educate patients, families, and caregivers on managing age-related conditions and maintaining independence.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  • Q uality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures aimed at enhancing geriatric care.

Qualifications:

  • Education : Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.

  • Residency: Completion of a residency program in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.

  • Fellowship: Completion of a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine.

  • Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in TX

  • Certification: BE/BC Geriatrics
