ManpowerGroup Electro Mechanical Engineer in Houston, Texas

Primary Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced product design engineer with work experience in electro-mechanical systems which incorporate motor control and simple logic functions, mechanical drive systems, and airflow management. We deliver HVAC accessories to majors in the HVAC OEM product industry, as well as associated distribution networks and marketplaces. The successful candidate will have experience with:

  • Single-phase and three-phase electric motors, up to 5 horsepower

  • Relay-based controls

  • Ladder logic design

  • ‘across-the line’ motor starters

  • Drivetrain design

  • Load calculations

  • Temperature, humidity, flow and pressure sensor selection

  • Low voltage AC/DC control circuits, and AC power circuits up to 600 volts

  • Product development processes

  • Exposure to a product manufacturing environment

Specific Requirements:

  • B.S.M.E. from a recognized University.

  • Must have proven 2-year record of electric and mechanical engineering experience.

  • Must have basic Office Suite Software skills

  • Auto Desk Inventor Software experience is a plus

  • Must have knowledge of basic electrical motor and pully systems

  • Must have the physical ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.

Preferred experience:

  • Axial and centrifugal blowers, and an understanding of the Affinity Laws

  • An understanding of Heat (Energy) Transfer

  • Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) electric motors

  • Induction electric motors

  • Electrically Commutated (EC) electric motors

  • Electric Rotary Actuators

  • Air damper design and application

  • Sheet metal forming

  • Classical mechanical stress analysis (exposure to FEA, a plus)

  • Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) w/PID control

  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)

  • Bill-of material creation in an MRP software environment

  • Product testing and commissioning

  • Technical mentoring and development of support engineers and designers

Other Abilities needed:

  • Oral Expression – The ability to communicate information and ideas orally so others will understand.

  • Speech Clarity – The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.

  • Selective Attention – The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.

  • Computer – The ability to use a computer.

  • MS Word, Excel & Outlook

  • Proficiency in 2D computer drafting (2D AutoCAD preferred)
