Director, Psychology Clinic

Description

The Psychological Service Clinic is the site of the practica for clinical psychology, family therapy and school psychology programs. The Director (full-time position) directs the clinic, which includes dealing with HIPPA and legal issues, supervision, client and staff management, symposium, billing, policies and procedures, records management, client recruitment, grant writing, and faculty and student needs.

Duties:

  • Responsible for daily business and therapeutic operations of the Psychological Services Clinic, including overseeing staff, interfacing with practica instructors and students, monitoring income and expenses, maintaining records, reporting to the Dean, and related duties including supervising staff, students and Practicum in the Clinic.

  • Completes intake screening for potential clients of therapy and testing services.

  • Sets fees for services, matches client needs with appropriate practicum students and coordinates with instructors, supervises retention of confidential client files, and manages clinic facility, equipment and resource sharing.

  • Handles crisis/emergency situations that may arise and mandatory reporting of abuse as required.

  • Advertises available Clinic services to the community, interacts with community based persons who request therapeutic or assessment services, and maintains records for all clients seen in the Clinic.

  • Coordinates the annual Emily G Sutter UHCL Symposium – scheduling speakers, advertising, volunteer staffing, session evaluation forms, attendance certificates, food services, parking, applying for continuing education credit approvals, hosting the event.

  • Supervises Practicum and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  1. Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology or in a related field.

  2. Experience providing treatment and assessment.

  3. Licensed Psychologist in Texas or license eligible in Texas.

  4. Knowledgeof Clinical or School Psychology and the ethics of clinical services.

  5. Ability to understand, process, and interpret electronic records.

  6. Ability to communicate professionally and strong ability to supervise others.

  7. Working knowledge regarding managing a clinic budget.

  8. Experience with community engagement and grant writing.

Desired:

APA approved internship.

Some teaching and research experience.
