DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Municipal Courts currently has full-time employment opportunities available for individuals who are self-motivated, customer service-oriented, pay attention to detail, and possess strong organizational skills. As an official of the Court, your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Collection of fines

  • Processing payments by cash, check, credit card and wire transfer

  • Process Parking Payments and schedule hearings

  • Data entry of court records and transactions

  • Act as a Passport Application Acceptance Agent by executing the passport application, ensuring that the application form and supporting documents are correctly submitted, and collect passport fees

  • High level of direct contact with the general public, attorneys, court staff and law enforcement

  • Dissemination of court information as required

  • Data entry of court records and transactions

  • Scanning of court documents into the Court’s case management system

  • Periodic rotation to alternate Court locations and/or sections

  • Other administrative and customer service-related responsibilities as assigned.

  • Must submit to annual background checks

*Please know that this position is designated as a Tier 1 position and the selected candidate will have to work during inclement weather conditions. *

WORKING CONDITIONS

General office setting. May require long periods of standing or sitting at a computer terminal and interacting with citizens in person and by telephone. Must be able to work weekends and/or holidays as needed. Must be able to travel to other court location, sometimes on short notice if and when needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Requires a high school diploma or a GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Six (6) months of administrative or customer service-related experience is required.

Substitution: An Associate's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

PREFERENCES

Preferences shall be given to the candidates that are:

  • Bilingual in Spanish

  • Have documented heavy cash handling experience;

  • Heavy customer service experience;

  • Knowledge of court policies and procedures

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
