Description

We are seeking a Controller based in Houston, Texas. The role involves overseeing the financial planning, reporting and accounting operations of a family-owned company that operates in the oil and gas and energy sector.

Responsibilities:

• Directing all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management functions of the company.

• Working with a third-party accounting firm to handle the month-end and year-end close process and reporting.

• Managing the consolidation of financial data of various business units.

• Providing accurate explanations of key financial data.

• Overseeing reconciliations and treasury responsibilities.

• Reviewing and updating the annual budget.

• Performing operationally-focused financial analysis and intelligence gathering to support strategic and business development initiatives.

• Implementing financial strategies based on initiatives.

• Ensuring compliance and accurate reporting regarding all regulatory matters.

• Providing leadership, mentoring, and support to the accounting team.

• Assisting in vetting, due diligence, and analysis for potential investment opportunities.

• Providing reporting and analysis of existing investments.

• Preparing board meeting notes and respective memos for investment strategies

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller role or similar position

• Proven expertise in performing Month-end Close Activities

• Demonstrated ability in using QuickBooks for financial tasks and record-keeping

• Experience in Budgeting and Forecasting, with the ability to create accurate financial predictions

• Strong skills in Cash Management, ensuring the organization's financial liquidity and stability

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is preferred

• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders

• Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• CPA preferred
