We are hiring immediately for a COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST position.

Requirement:
Create and execute general and crisis communication plans
Develop and write copy for newsletters, events, and programs for use online and offline, including but not limited to press releases, social media posts, budget narratives, and internal and external email communications
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communication team to develop content for paid, owned ,and earned media
Manage and develop key communications with clients and team leadership
Build, maintain, and manage relationships with key media and partner organizations for information sharing and co-marketing
Work with university communicators to ensure coordinated promotion and facilitate information sharing
Conceptualize and create opportunities to engage with local and national stakeholders, including key speaking opportunities
Identify and propose internal stories to help promote awareness of the Corporation and Administration and Finance to the media and general public
Establish, maintain, and report on relevant metrics and results for all communication programs
Organize and manage other special events, projects, and programs as needed
Actively monitor the UH System Dining reputation
Additional duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Business, Marketing, Liberal Arts or a related field
Minimum of three years of related experience and/or relevant training
Exceptional organizational and computer skills
Highly motivated, flexible, and capable of multi-tasking
Make sound judgments, using tact and diplomacy to respond to conflicts and problems
Manage a broad range of high-level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities and maintain confidentiality
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including speaking in public
Proven resourcefulness to work under pressure and to work with tight deadlines
Background working with the press
Experience with various e-mail marketing and press management software
Skilled at establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships with all levels of staff,the Board of Directors, the university community, and the public
Capacity to self-direct, as well as coordinate work team
Excellent project management and organizational skills and very detail-oriented
Strong copywriting talent with a command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Comfortable with web-based project management tools and collaboration technologies
Possession of a valid California Driver's License and satisfactory driving record
Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as needed
A background check is required for all regular benefited positions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to hear and speak to exchange information in person or on the telephone
Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrists to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
Able to read a variety of materials
Sitting or standing for an extended period
Physical agility to lift 20 pounds to shoulder height
Physical agility to lift, carry, push, or pull objects

Job Summary
The Marketing Coordinator reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, holds duties related to sales and marketing. The position entails a need for excellent communication skills; ability to multi-task on a variety of projects simultaneously, accurate distribution of pertinent information both internally to all departments as well as to clients and related vendors. Excellent client skills in presentation and marketing ability.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands-on support at events, unit set up, program implementation
Database management
Coordinates content needed for marketing initiatives
Coordinates field marketing requests and activities
Works within provided budgets and guidelines
Assists with presentations and proposals
Develops and maintains strong working relationships with field managers.
Works with vendors and agencies
Prepares marketing reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data.
Maintains promotional inventory, fulfillment
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum two plus year’s prior experience in marketing.
Background or interest in hospitality/food
Proficient in MS Office; experience with Adobe suite (Photoshop, InDesign) and CMS systems a plus.
Multi-task in deadline-driven team environment, adjust to changing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail
AS in Marketing or business related field
Flexible schedule, evenings/weekends and possible travel required
