Summary:

NRG is seeking a Product Development Analyst who is passionate about identifying what customers truly need and want, possesses the creativity to turn those customer needs into offerings that generate value, and is analytical, organized, structured, detail-oriented, curious, and proactive. This person will figure out what needs to get done to turn the ideas into reality, provide analytical insight to justify the product’s business case, and be fiercely driven to see those ideas through.

The ideal candidate will easily fit into a fast-paced, dynamic, creative team driven to accelerate the future of home energy. The Product Development team is at the core of this company’s growth and provides a great environment to develop a cross-functional skillset unparalleled in other functional groups. This position will be reporting to the Director, Product Innovation in the Texas Home Energy organization.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the market landscape, uncover and size areas of opportunity, and drive product financial analysis from idea to concept before they’re handed off to be executed.

  • Develop financial models for new and existing products, including forecasts of active customers, gross margin, and expected NPV resulting from product launches.

  • Create business case presentations showing forecasted value of a new product or expansion of an existing product.

  • Prepare scenario analyses for new and existing products to estimate the expected value gain or loss from product launches, including cannibalization of existing products.

  • Monitors performance of products currently in market to ensure products meet targets and engages appropriate teams to request updates to products as needed.

  • Evaluate new technology needs and evolving business requirements to recommend appropriate products for the current NRG portfolio by analyzing the technology ecosystem, customer needs, and industry trends.

  • Provide in depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems, develop innovative solutions, and influence strategic product portfolio decisions.

  • Estimate the total addressable market for products using internal and external data sources.

  • Identify and communicate risk and impacts of proposed solutions along with risk mitigation options.

  • Conduct research and generate insights, use-cases, and industry analyses to address potential future opportunities.

  • Provide additional support on requested tasks, prioritize tasks, communicate across the team, proactively report performance, and develop next steps.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment with frequent collaboration within and across team.

  • Hybrid work environment with 3 days per week in office and 2 days remote.

  • No overtime required.

  • No travel required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years career experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or Business.

  • Strong analytical skills, including complex financial modeling experience, is a plus.

  • Product Management or Finance experience, preferably in the consumer-facing products, financial, or services industries.

  • Experience in renewables, solar, energy, sustainability services, or a high-tech company.

  • Experience working in startups or with an incubator/accelerator.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate ideas in email, PowerPoint, and Excel. Communicates proactively and follows up as needed.

  • Detail oriented and able to produce accurate work products under rapidly changing priorities.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and drive projects forward.

  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to deliver quality results timely and consistently.

  • Self-starter and self-driven, drives for results with a get-things-done attitude.

  • Ability to think creatively, discover new perspectives or ways to present products, and problem-solve.

  • Ability to highlight issues early and proactively, involving the right stakeholders, and highlight a point of view on a resolution.

  • Desire to build products from scratch which do not currently exist in the market.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Ability to establish relationships across the organization to learn how everything works and to get things done.

Physical Requirements:

  • Majority of work performed on a computer in a seated position.
