Job Summary:

  • The Analyst must support strategic and performance initiatives for NRG’s Energy Retail business. In this role, the Analyst will need to be highly analytical, strong problem solver and effective communicator. The Analyst must thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, and focus on generating results. To support and drive financial and operational performance of NRG’s businesses, the Analyst will perform a diverse range of assignments, projects and tasks related to financial planning and reporting as well cost management and portfolio optimization. The Analyst must develop skills and knowledge to effectively address and assist in projects across multiple functional groups including but not limited to Performance Management, Sales, Business Development, Segment Reporting, Product Developments, Digital, Marketing and FP&A amongst others.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The role will be instrumental in optimizing business activities, unlocking meaningful business intelligence, and enhancing data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will apply advanced analytical skills to assess data and metrics to support performance development. Identify deficiencies and summarize finings in reports. Understand the financial impact of emerging trends, opportunities, and key operational metrics throughout the customer lifecycle

  • Monitor and track key performance indicators (KPIs), leverage business metrics like Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period, and respond promptly to ensure consistently superior operational performance, enable informed decision-making

  • Collaborate closely with all business units to actively support the selection, development, improvement, and seamless integration of processes and analytics to interpretate customer trends from large, complex datasets

  • Regularly develop, monitor, and maintain the quality of automated reports and dashboards that delivers value-add performance trends and key financial metrics to drive actionable business insights

  • Audit and validate data source with Data Analytics to ensure data integrity and maintain data consistency and reliability for analytical purposes

  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational report as needed

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of open office and hybrid working environment

  • Some overtime required as special projects arise

  • Minimal Travel

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, engineering, computer science, data analytics or other related quantitative discipline

  • 2+ years of experience in financial modeling and/or data-driven analytics in either a business or academic environment, or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency in computer languages such as Python, SQL, or similar programming languages

  • Experience in the development of metrics, KPI’s and overall business intelligence architecture

  • Experience in querying and working with multiple databases

  • Proficiency with MS Office and general programming preferred

  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to work with incomplete data or seemingly open-ended questions and translate into actionable analyses

  • Must by detail oriented and highly organized
