On behalf of the Houston Water Director, you will organize and schedule meetings between City staff and with outside entities, and elected officials. Throughout the day, you will prepare, edit, and revise various types of correspondence, manuals, presentations, and reports. As a part of your core responsibilities, you will work closely with management to establish procedures, consistency, and workflow accuracy that increases the productivity of our employees and the efficiency of our operation. As you interface professionally with all levels of the organization, your ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment that is deadline driven will be key.

Houston Water has over 1800 employees and is made up of Drinking Water Operations, Planning, Regulatory Compliance, Resources and Client Services, and Wastewater Operations. Our mission is to provide water to the City of Houston with 100% customer satisfaction and 100% employee satisfaction. This includes the production and distribution of over 146 billion gallons of water per year and the treatment of over 90 billion gallons per year of wastewater. That is enough to fill the Astrodome four times per day with fresh water and over twice per day with wastewater.
POSITION OVERVIEW Administrative Coordinator
The Administrative Coordinator is a leader within the service line who will be the expert for the administrative processes and procedures within the service line. This position is in the Houston Water Director’s Office and will provide direct administrative support to the Houston Water Director. The person in this role will be responsible for providing professional administrative functions requiring confidentiality, professionalism, and quality customer service.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing etc.
This is a Houston Public Works position at the Tier II Level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Five years of administrative experience are required. Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preference shall also be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
