The Role at a glance:

Our centralized Houston, TX based Accounting Organization is looking for a self-driven and solutions-oriented Accountant, GL to join a fast paced and maturing team as they create efficiencies within their processes and procedures.   

As an Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and efficiency of our operations. By managing our AP processes with precision, the successful candidate will contribute to maintaining the strong relationships we have with our vendors and partners, which is essential for our continued success and growth.

What you'll be doing:

  • Process AP invoices accurately and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • Verify and reconciles invoices, purchase orders, and receipts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and authorization before payment.

  • Maintain vendor accounts, including reconciling statements, resolving discrepancies, and responding to vendor inquiries.

  • Prepare and process payments, including checks, Automated Clearing House payments, and wire transfers, promptly.

  • Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals and account reconciliations.

  • Monitor and track vendor contracts, including W-9 forms, agreements, and payment terms to ensure compliance.

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to resolve billing and payment issues promptly.

  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

  • Provide strong customer service to ENA operations teams.

  • Follow established approval policies and procedures.

  • Ability to be accountable actions, decisions, and performance, both in terms of achieving objectives and adhering to agreed-upon standards, guidelines, and expectations.

What we're looking for:

Must-haves:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 2+ years of experience in AP or related role.

  • General computer competency required, including Microsoft Excel (advanced), Word, and Outlook

  • Experience with Great Plains required.

  • Ability to build trust and strong relationships, finding solutions and influencing outcomes to drive superlative performance.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Comfort and capability in navigating uncertain or unclear situations, making informed decisions, and adapting to changing circumstances.

  • Able to turn data from various sources into insights with a strong mindfulness in a fast-changing environment.

  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Organizational and project management skills.

  • Upholding strong moral and ethical principles, being honest, trustworthy, and dependable in all interactions and decisions is fundamental for building trust and maintaining a positive reputation.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
