Description

We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for an Accountant, Assoc in Houston, TX. This role primarily focuses on researching GAAP SEC regulations and company policies, practices, and procedures. The selected candidate will leverage their accounting skills within the utility industry and contribute significantly to our financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct extensive research on GAAP SEC regulations and related company policies, procedures, and practices.

• Apply utility accounting principles to assigned tasks to ensure integrity of corporate financial data.

• Assist in the timely preparation of financial reports that comply with GAAP and accurately reflect the company's financial status.

• Prepare schedules and journal entries independently, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Handle the accounts payable role efficiently, with a focus on maintaining high data integrity.

• Process a high volume of non-PO invoices in SAP, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

• Maintain up-to-date vendor information in the system and respond to vendor and internal inquiries regarding invoices and check requests.

• Communicate effectively with vendors and upper management, ensuring that all inquiries and issues are addressed promptly.

• Assist the Finance and Accounting Team with month-end closing, including the preparation of monthly accruals and journal entries.

• Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and accuracy, utilizing strong organizational and time management skills.

Requirements

• Must possess strong communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders

• Ability to understand and comply with company policies and internal control measures

• Experience in invoice processing and check processing

• Proficiency in GAAP Accounting and commission functions

• Familiarity with finance-related practices, procedures, and compliance

• Experience with handling vendors, suppliers, and business units

• Ability to perform ad hoc financial tasks and journal entries

• Experience in staff onboarding and management

• Excellent time management skills to ensure tasks are completed within set deadlines

• Strong research analysis skills to aid in decision-making processes

• Ability to handle month-end close activities efficiently

• Proficiency in managing expense accounts

• Experience working onsite

• Ability to create and execute validation plans
