Job Description Summary

This position will assist with proctoring exams and support the needs of the Michigan Tech Testing Center, either in person or online. This position will also be expected to complete additional training allowing them to proctor for sponsored exams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

  • Effectively communicate with students and instructors regarding test expectations and schedules in person, by phone and by email.

  • Assist with the administration of the testing center and coordination of scheduling exams.

  • Proctor paper/pencil, computerized, and online exams for the Michigan Tech Testing Center, online courses, and sponsored exams.

  • Maintain a high level of security and confidentiality within the testing center and with testing materials.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, and balance multiple activities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Assist with transcribing exams from paper/pencil to online with computer software including Canvas.

  • Scan and score multiple choice exam bubble sheets, and report results electronically to instructors through the Remark OMR Software.

  • Address questionable candidate behavior to enforce academic integrity.

  • Work some evenings and/or weekends as testing needs require.

  • Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Generate and organize files through shared hard drive, Google sheets, Google documents and Google file sharing.

  • Updating documentation using Microsoft Office or Google Suite.

  • Maintaining and updating proctor documentation using PDFs and Canvas courses.

  • Learn multiple additional software programs used by sponsored exam companies such as Pearson VUE and ETS.

  • Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

  • Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

  • 3 yr. office/clerical experience

  • 3 yr. basic computing skills

  • Advanced computer skills required

Desirable Education and/or Experience

  • 1-year of college.

  • Experience proctoring paper/pencil and computerized exams.

  • Experience with computerized testing through sponsored organizations.

  • Experience working with students with accommodations or learning disabilities.

  • Experience working with international students.

  • Experience using scheduling software.

  • Experience using bubble sheet scoring software.

  • Experience with conflict resolution.

  • Experience using Google and Adobe products.

  • Experience creating forms and documents.
