This position within the Strategy & Operations team is part of the commercial organization at Janssen Biotech of Johnson & Johnson. This group is responsible for Strategic Planning, Marketing Engagement & Education & Congress Strategy across the portfolio. This role is focused on providing the strategy, process, and people leadership for the Marketing Engagements & Education Team (MEET) which includes responsibility for speaker bureau, sponsorships and fee-for-service contracting for the oncology organization. This role will play a critical role collaborating with the Hematology and Solid Tumor Sales & Marketing teams, and Portfolio Field & Marketing teams (Key Account Management, Urology Account Management, Oncology Clinical Educators). In addition, this role will partner closely with the following teams to support that Sales and Marketing Teams: US Cross Functional Leadership Teams including Brand Marketing, Sales Training, Medical Affairs, Health Care Compliance, Legal, Quality Assurance, North America Pharma Affiliates, Alliance Management, Communications, Corporate and Outside Vendors to effectively execute key commercial activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to and working in partnership with the Senior Director, US Oncology Strategy & Operations Lead, this individual will lead the Marketing Engagements & Education Team (MEET) Strategy and Operational excellence for: Speaker Bureau, Fee-for-Service Contracting, and Sponsorships Coordination across the oncology organization.

  • Responsible for overall strategy for the Marketing Engagements & Education Team (Fee-for-Service Contracting, Speaker Bureau, Sponsorships) across Hematology, Solid Tumor and Portfolio Strategy & Execution Marketing.

  • Responsible for elevating the planning and execution for Portfolio Field & Marketing Teams’ Speaker Bureau and Sponsorship Coordination given its growing and evolving business needs.

  • Communication liaison between MEET and the Hematology and Solid Tumor Sales & Marketing teams, and Portfolio Field & Marketing teams.

  • Responsibilities include business planning, budgeting, vendor management and internal & external stakeholder management, creation & maintenance of MEET policies and training to ensure business partners are held accountable to policies and procedures, point of contact for internal audits and escalations for MEET initiatives.

  • Accountable for partnering closely with the external contracting business planning organization to hire, performance manage and develop contracted individuals performing the sponsorship and fee-for-service contracting roles in collaboration with JJIT business partners.

  • Responsible for partnering closely with Commercial Excellence, Compliance, Legal and other JJIT Speaker Bureau Therapeutic Area Leads to collaborate cross-functionally to develop and enhance the Speaker Bureau process, policies, and systems across JJIT in conjunction with the single-source Speaker Bureau vendor.

  • Operational Excellence: Accountable for the strategy and consistent delivery & execution of key operational workstreams for Speaker Programs, Fee for Services contracting and Sponsorships coordination in accordance with J&J standard operating procedures. Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and operational improvement, through implementation of new policies, procedures, technology, or other resources that can evolve our current standard operating procedures for Speakers Bureau, Fee for Services contracting, Sponsorships, and life cycle management initiatives. Deploy and socialize metrics that measure education program effectiveness and impact. Must identify and proactively outline best in class professional education programs across the oncology portfolio.

  • Project Management: Develop strategy and oversee planning timelines, and action plans in collaboration with Hematology, Solid Tumor and Portfolio partners to ensure all deadlines and deliverables are met. Provide thorough and timely communication to internal stakeholders and external partners. Accountable for overseeing speaker training, meetings, and events coordination in conjunction with the area lead and Speaker Program Vendor(s) (communication, registration, calendar invite, and everything related to speaker programs). Effectively manage budgets, administrative tasks, tactical deployment, and external agencies to ensure optimal execution across the portfolio.

  • Cross-functional Coordination: Accountable for collaborating across the matrix and ensure alignment of MEET priorities with: Brand Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Thought Leader Engagement, Sales, Sales Training, Health Care Compliance, Legal, Business Analytics, Strategic Customer Group, Medical Affairs, North America Pharma Affiliates, Alliance Management, Communications, Corporate and external vendors, identifying barriers and executing solutions across the portfolio. Must demonstrate the ability to strategically lead through influence, and work effectively in a matrix, unstructured environment with proven success solving ambiguous business challenges.

  • Customer Experience: Accountable for identifying and implementing innovative, industry-leading practices to enable effective, consistent, and impactful customer stakeholder experiences at speaker programs and sponsorship engagements. This individual will evaluate opportunities to drive innovation and operational excellence including assessing the current tools and resources, identify gaps or opportunities for improvement, and lead the evaluation of new or additional resources. Responsible for establishing and growing relationships with third party partners whose capabilities can supplement our internal core competencies.

  • Compliance: Accountable for strict adherence to the legal, regulatory, compliance and procurement guidelines.

  • Develop MEET team’ skillset in numerous marketing competencies along with leadership opportunities that help increase exposure to all areas of the business.

  • Lead talent management including recruitment, on-boarding, training, development, and career planning.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. MBA or advanced degree in related field is preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive pharmaceutical/healthcare industry experience, with at least 5 years of experience in a commercial role (i.e., Sales, Sales Training, Professional Education, Operations, Brand Marketing, Sales Management, and/or related fields).

  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing including FDA regulatory and legal environment and compliance regulations is required.

  • Proven ability to understand business strategy and translate it into education solutions that support the company’s goals. Must be able to fully assess needs of the brands across the portfolio in collaboration with brand leadership.

  • Strong collaboration, ability to establish good working relationships across functions at all levels, identify risks and devise creative and strategic solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to strategically lead through influence, and work effectively in a matrix, unstructured environment with proven success solving ambiguous business challenges.

  • Proven people leadership and talent management experience including ability to lead, manage, coach, and develop by influence.

  • Highly detailed and organized individual; must be capable of managing multiple large-scale events and priorities simultaneously.

  • Experience leading continuous process improvement initiatives and best practices sharing.

  • Excellent verbal, written and executive communication skills are required along with demonstrated presentation skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% which may include overnights and weekend travel domestically with limited international travel.

  • In person, office collaboration 3 days / week.

Preferred:

  • Work related experience in Oncology.

  • Experience working with sales, marketing, and training/medical education.

  • Awareness of adult learning theory/instructional design and experience with innovative training/education modalities.

  • Knowledge of the following internal systems: Totality, ARIBA, IMPROVE, iMedical and CentrisDirect.

This position is based in Horsham, PA and will be required up to 25% travel US with limited OUS travel.
