Minimum Qualifications Satisfactory completion of the two-year Highway Maintenance Worker Traineeship or two years of experience in the operation of highway construction, maintenance equipment, or other vehicles in excess of 26,000 Gross Vehicle Weight Rating with air brakes and possession of a New York State Class A or B Commercial Driver License with DOT-specified endorsements with no airbrake restriction. Two of the following pieces of Category 1 equipment: patch roller, sewer cleaner, woodchipper, tractor-mounted mower or forklift; and the following three types of Category 2 equipment: heavy dump truck, snowplow with wing (OPP certification) and front-end loader.

Duties Description Individuals selected must be able to respond to emergency callout within 1 hour during inclement weather, including all snow and ice conditions, to be considered for this position. Duties include but are not limited to: responsible for all duties described in the Civil Service Classification Standard for Highway Maintenance Worker 1. For this assignment, a majority of the incumbent's time will be spent as part of the Regional Striping Crew including providing protection of traffic for this crew, loading and unloading equipment and material, and on occasion serving as an operator on the Striper Truck. During periods of time when the crew is unable to stripe due to weather or equipment, the incumbent will be asked to assist the residency staff with other duties.

Additional Comments The starting salary for the Highway Maintenance Worker 1 position is $48,215. This amount is comprised of the base salary of $39,215 with an additional geographic pay differential of $9,000, specific to this title and location.Cannabis use is not permitted for employees in this title and assignment.
