Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior Solution Architect with strategic analysis and enterprise-wide technology experience to contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives. The Senior Solutions Architect facilitates research, design, development, and integration of technology architectures (including emerging) to align with business strategy, goals, and objectives. The Senior Solution Architect will consult, guide and support engineering teams, product owners and business line stakeholders to develop IT frameworks, provide design solution, and support development and release activities to meet the business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead software architecture design for complex distributed systems and applications – Solution architecture.

  • Partner with Engineering managers, and engineers of the team to drive technical strategy and vision.

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate across functions and across groups to influence the strategic direction to deliver improvements in the technology stack as well as customer experience.

  • Be a multiplier to drive high standards of engineering and operational excellence and best practices.

  • Operate in a rapidly evolving environment and be able to quickly adapt and prioritize as needed.

  • Be a business-minded and product-oriented technical leader and maintain focus on delivering outstanding customer experiences.

  • Lead, direct, and recommend solutions to cross-functional teams targeted for enhancements for system performance, reliability, scalability, and capacity.

  • Expert full stack software engineer with extensive architecture experience.

  • Strong technical team leadership, mentorship, and collaboration.

  • Develop systems with business and technical teams to ensure people, process, and technology align and work together to improve the end-to-end ecosystem.

  • Strong background in building scalable, low-latency distributed system design and architecture, including microservices, cloud native, event-driven architectures, and messaging systems.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.

  • Proven experience as a Software Architect or similar role, with a focus on designing and architecting cloud-based solutions.

  • Expertise in cloud technologies, preferably Microsoft Azure, with a deep understanding of cloud services such as Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, etc.

  • Solid understanding of security best practices and principles, particularly in the context of financial services and regulatory compliance.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Ideal candidate will be a strong engineer with breadth of experience in evolving architecture and designing enterprise solutions at scale.

  • Proven track record of delivering highly scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems.

  • Proven experience in technical leadership, decision making, design and development of products from scratch.

  • Able to provide sound solutions to complex business requirements, helping the team understand the solution rational.

  • Experienced in providing sound solutions to complex business requirements, delivering necessary architecture artifact creation, meeting, and explaining to architects across the enterprise to explain and with Enterprise architecture team to explain and help drive consensus where needed if difference of design alignment is needed.

  • Polyglot experience with multiple object-oriented programming languages, Full stack experience (including popular database and front-end technologies)

  • Demonstrated expertise with open-source technologies like Java, Springboot, Kafka, etc., and databases like SQL Server and Oracle.

  • Skilled in designing modern, distributed on-prem and Cloud architecture into the product and driving for the highest standards.

  • Technical experience designing and implementing distributed systems at scale with an emphasis on pragmatic choices around maintainability, scalability and reliability and a track record of building technical alignments across multiple teams across the enterprise.

  • Experience mentoring and coaching senior and junior engineers to maximize their technical potential in partnership with Engineering managers.

  • Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communicator with ability to explain and evangelize complex ideas clearly across org boundaries.

  • Proficient in applying modern design patterns and SOLID principles to solve complex business problems.

  • Solid experiences in microservices development and containerization of Apps for Kubernetes deployment and build CI/CD pipeline with Jenkins or Azure DevOps

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Able to communicate processes and results with all parties involved in the product team, including engineers, product owner, scrum master, third party vendors and customers.

  • Thorough understanding of the business model in relation to current product focus area.

  • Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.

  • Ability to collaborate on all aspects of product development.

  • Experience in the financial services industry, experience with KYC/AML is a plus.

  • Thorough understanding of a feature, the users impacted, the flows impacted and feature's purpose.

  • Understanding of the team's domain, how work in this domain relates to the team's objectives and deliverables and how it contributes to overall business strategy and how technical strategy maps to this.

  • Ability to collaborate on all aspects of product development.

  • Technically proficient and able to define and fulfill solutions requirements for end user.

  • Proficient understanding of algorithms, data structures, architectural design patterns and best practices.

  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $129,455.00 - $152,300.00 - $167,530.00
