Job Description

U.S. Bank is looking for an experienced Software Engineer Director to lead our Retail Payment Services Technology Group. In this role, you will work closely with business leaders to build and execute technology strategies to deliver payment solutions to clients, modernize payment platforms, and develop next generation payment features.

The Consumer Card Technology Director exhibits a mix of technical acumen, strategy and vision, along with the ability to cultivate and grow technical talent. An advanced technologist enabling strong coding practices and solid design decisions. Builds meaningful relationships with business and technology stakeholders; effectively partners to remove organizational obstacles and guide cross-team strategic efforts. Fosters a culture of empowerment, engineering excellence, and growth.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience

  • 12 or more years of relevant software engineering experience

  • Eight or more years of experience leading multiple software engineering teams

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and background in Payments, primarily card issuing and processing.

  • Extensive knowledge and working experience with payments card platforms integrated with external clients

  • Maintain a deep relationship and partnership with payments leaders

  • Ability to drive change across large engineering organizations; promote DevOps and Agile best practice

  • Extensive knowledge of the Payments business unit supported as well as the ability to recognize the business priorities and their impact to the overall Technology organization

  • Strong engineering and technology background with the ability to work closely with product leaders and drive product solutions

  • Experience leading modernization efforts in an enterprise level environment

  • Cloud Experience; Microsoft Azure Preferred

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $180,710.00 - $212,600.00 - $233,860.00
