Research question

The quest for cost certainty in the early stages of projects is a complex challenge that requires a deep understanding of the interplay between the facility's electrical demand, substation design, and associated costs.

Fluor's initiative to develop a dynamic pricing model aims to address this challenge by analyzing the dynamics of electrical consumers and the technical specifications of substations. The goal is to create a tool that enhances the precision of cost estimates during the conceptual phase, where information is often scarce. This model would serve as a cornerstone for a comprehensive research paper, providing electrical estimation experts with a robust framework for understanding the cost implications of design decisions.

Additionally, an abstracted reference guide from this research could empower general estimators with insights into how design parameters influence the capacity, size, and budget of substations. Ultimately, the successful implementation of this study's findings promises to significantly refine the accuracy of cost estimations, aligning them with the level of detail available at early design stages, thus fostering more informed decision-making and resource allocation in substation construction projects.

The duration of this internship will be 6 months.
