Queen's Health System Ops Manager, Patient Access (Full Time, 40, Day) in Honolulu, Hawaii

RESPONSIBILITIES

I. JOB SUMMARY:

• Supervises the day-to-day operations, and coordination and integration of services, programs, and activities of Patient Access, and other areas as assigned.

• Ensures operations and functions are in compliance with regulatory requirements and the policies and procedures of The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC).

• Serves as the manager of the department/unit in the absence of the Manager as assigned.

• Assists in staff development including but not limited to: quality assurance, customer service, technical skills, education and training.

II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.

• Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.

• Frequent: walking.

• Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object, 25 pounds of force required to push/pull a patient in a wheelchair on a smooth, level surface infrequently (1-4 times a day) or on occasion (1-4 times an hour).

• Operates computer, computer work station equipment; scanner, keypad, electronic signature, camera and credit card swipe, calculator, hardline telephone, cell phone, fax and printer.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Associate’s degree in business, accounting or related field; or two (2) years experience in patient access, revenue cycle or business services may substituted for the education requirement.

B. EXPERIENCE:

• In addition to the education requirement, three (3) years experience in patient access, including scheduling, registration and insurance verification in a healthcare setting; or two (2) years experience in patient scheduling, registration and insurance verification in a healthcare setting with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or healthcare administration.

• One (1) year supervisory/leadership experience.

• Knowledge of front-line registration processes.

• Knowledge of medical terminology, federal/state medical assistance programs and insurance requisites and claims filing procedures.

• Knowledge of accounting principles, operating budget and practices preferred.
