BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P EY QUALITY INTEGRATION & DATABASE SVCS Department of the P SOFTWARE APPLICATION SVCS Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. This position may be filled on Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island. (Role: Professional Supervisor)

JOB FUNCTION:

Establishes and helps manage strategic directions, objectives, budgets, priorities and projects for SAP information technology programs or related technologies, in collaboration with the director, manager, and customer stakeholders. Serves as team leader (as required), subject matter expert and technical resource, mentoring and advising project teams during planning, execution and maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans various SAP and SAP related information technology (IT)/systems (IS) projects and programs varying from medium to highly complex nature. Responsible for visioning, planning and facilitating project team work in a matrix team environment, ensuring plans are carried out and business needs are met. Communicates with senior IT staff members, functional managers, project managers, and/or IT business solutions consultants regarding program plans and status.

  • Provides professional and technical leadership in key program projects as a subject matter expert or for planning support, and acts as technical advisor to the assigned project manager(s) or senior analyst(s). Leads longer-term scenario planning and visioning for the companies SAP based landscape. Develops and maintains the strategic and tactical program budgets.

  • Leads a team of people by assigning work and its associated priority, monitoring and evaluating work, and overseeing the performance, training and development needs of the group. Acts as primary mentor to a technology support staff, to relate big picture program awareness and facilitate knowledge transfer. Facilitates the mitigation of vulnerabilities for systems supported by the team.

  • Explores, establishes, and enhances strategic vendor and consultant relationships. Identifies staff development requirements and provides input on enhancing program management capability.

  • Remain available for both scheduled and unscheduled work. Said work is occasionally required outside normal business hours and on weekends

  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    Knowledge Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and theories of information systems technologies normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of SAP and SAP related information system development or computing, communications and networking infrastructure, e-business technologies, project management, and standards associated with electric utility information systems.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the development of interfaces/integrations using middleware technologies and of database administration and management technologies

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of WAN/LAN/voice technology, personal computers and/or Unix systems and related software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, etc.

  • Working knowledge of company policies and procedures as related to specific projects and assignments.

  • Understanding of Company planning processes and program/non-program budgeting, IT governance, staff administration, and other administrative functions highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills including team leadership, effective written, oral and listening communication skills and interpersonal skills, in order to work effectively with all levels of the company and with outside contractors and consultants.

  • Demonstrated strong analysis skills. Ability to conceptualize new ideas quickly.

  • Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated presentation and platform skills to conduct and facilitate briefings and high-level meetings.

  • Ability to mentor work staff and facilitate knowledge transfer.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to handle confrontational, difficult and/or sensitive issues. Ability to handle such issues with professionalism while using tact, courtesy and discretion.

  • Demonstrated in-depth analytical and administrative skills for such tasks as preparing and monitoring project requirements, resolving cost and time constraints, and conflicting priorities.

  • Supervisory skills and ability to work with a variety of individuals, occasionally dealing with sensitive, difficult, and confrontational issues.

    Experience Requirements

  • Extensive (7 or more) years of experience working level experience in the IT/IS program technologies and/or projects. Prerequisite positions may include one or more of the following: senior analyst - SAP, project manager. IT Business Consulting experience is also desirable.

  • Several (5-7 or more) years of experience in the development of SAP and SAP related information systems or applications or computing, communications or networking infrastructure, or e-business applications.

  • Several (5 or more) years experience in the development of interfaces and in working with databases.

  • Demonstrated project management competency; Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification desirable.
