Magellan Health Services General Manager, HMSA in Honolulu, Hawaii

This position maintains oversight, accountability for and leadership of multiple functions of the specified operations areas. This position develops and drives the strategic operational direction to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and quality. Partners with leaders from other areas to provide innovative solutions in support of service delivery.

  • Develops goals, strategies and success measures to ensure the objectives of the operations teams are achieved.

  • Communicates cross functionally regarding strategy, key issues, decisions, and the overall progress of business goals.

  • Provides ownership of business processes, ensuring resource allocation will meet operational objectives.

  • Works in a highly matrixed organization and collaborates with other departments supporting business requirements and operational needs.

  • Directs cross-functional projects in conjunction with various departments to develop and implement applications on a variety of platforms.

  • Assists senior management with development and implementation of operational strategy, including quality, project management and vendor integration.

  • Participates in maintenance of operational requirements through active planning, problem solving and continuous monitoring.

  • Oversees management staff within the operations team.

  • Forecasts staffing needs, taking into account line of business growth and product development.

  • Responsible for the budget of operations

  • Manages other projects and programs as directed by operational needs.

Responsibilities

Experience requirements vary based on SBU supported.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare plus 5 years of management experience including profit and loss responsibility.

Knowledge of healthcare data systems, member/provider communications and database management.

Healthcare industry knowledge and demonstrated successful management of complex, interdependent functions.

Proven ability to plan, organize, schedule, direct, control, and monitor large-scale, multi-functional project activities.

Proven experience interacting with executive management and providing concise project reporting for board level review.

Ability to perform basic financial and quantitative analysis.

Well-developed interpersonal skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of information systems and health technologies.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Product Suite, including Visio.

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

Experience in working collaboratively and effectively with senior management and staff at all levels of an organization.

Ability to motivate, manage and mentor teams; strong organizational skills and the ability to plan ahead, document and develop operational plans and effectively execute on them.

Salary Range

Salary Minimum:

$117,860

Salary Maximum:

$200,360

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
