Hawaiian Airlines Business Functional Analyst, SOCC Processes and Technology in Honolulu, Hawaii

  • Position Summary*

Reporting to the Director of SOCC Processes and Technology, the Business Functional Analyst collaborates with business stakeholders to understand, articulate, and resolve business needs, objectives, and/or desires. They interface directly with the Information Technology Flight Operations Team in the development, testing, and validation of technical solutions to business problems. They act as a subject matter expert to internal teams such as the Project Management Office, Finance, Information Technology, Procurement, and other departments on various items to include contracts, projects, operational information, and other subjects as required.

  • Key Responsibilities*

  • Understand business unit functional requirements and processes to support mission-critical safety and regulatory software applications for Flight Operations and Operations Control to include operations management, flight planning, aircraft performance, aircraft tracking, ACARS/data link, maintenance, crew, and customer service applications and associated protocols which must remain available 24/7/365 in support of continuous flight operations.

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of new functional requirements, technology, hardware, and software applications related to and/or supporting the SOCC operating environment as required.

  • Perform administrative tasks via front-end clients in the above applications.

  • Assist in design and deployment of backup infrastructure and protocols related to operational contingencies in the event Hawaiian’s primary operational control systems or facilities are unavailable.

  • Lead workflow management for the group.

  • Design and implement SharePoint reference websites for SOCC teams or business processes.

  • Assist in development and maintenance activities for SOCC applications including identifying required maintenance, risk assessment, minimizing or eliminating down-time, and departmental communication and coordination.

  • Creation of instructional guides for company personnel.

  • Ensure compliance with DOT and FAA safety protocols and regulations.

  • Attend industry forums representing Hawaiian’s interests, driving industry regulations for company benefit, and identifying value added enhancements or efficiencies.

  • Professional development and other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Requirements*

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.

  • 3 years of experience in airline flight operations, airport operations, flight dispatching, system operations control, load planning, and/or a role supporting these teams.

  • 3 years of professional experience in a business analyst role.

  • Strong team player with focus on collaboration, excellent time management skills, highly motivated self-starter with the ability to use sound judgment when collaborating with team members.

  • Demonstrated competency in requirements development, elicitation, analysis, specification, validation, management, and the ability to apply proper techniques.

  • Advanced skill level in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.

  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft Visio.

  • Ability to work limited nights and weekends.

  • Ability to be on-call 24/7/365 for limited circumstances where expertise may be required.

/ Please note that the provided salary information serves as a general guideline. Our salary is determined by a candidate's experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations. The expected pay range is $81,000 - $106,000./

  • Preferred Qualifications*

  • Advanced degree from accredited college or university.

  • Relevant certifications or professional training programs to include:

o Project Manager Professional (PMP)

o International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) Certification

o Project Management Institute (PMI) Professional in Business Analysis (PBA) Certification

o FAA Dispatcher, Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance Technician, and/or Air Traffic Control License(s)

o Other training or certifications related to the groups represented in the System Operations Control Center.

  • Experience with project management life cycle (PMLC) and/or software development life cycles (SDLC) in a team environment.

  • Novice skill level in Microsoft Access.

  • Airline dispatch software application experience.

  • ACARS/data link experience.

  • Aircraft performance background or experience.
