Queen's Health System Bed Controller - Bed Control (Full Time, 40, Varied Shifts) in Honolulu, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinates admission, transfer and discharge for inpatients and outpatients, ensuring timely access to services.
• Indicates clinical and financial screening for appropriateness of acute care admissions.
• Works with physicians, other facilities, nursing and other healthcare providers to accommodate admissions and special requests.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Frequent: reaching above, at and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
• Occasional: standing, walking, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, squatting, twisting body.
• Operates copier, printer, computer, TDD machine, pneumatic tube system, facsimile, embossers.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Some exposure to communicable diseases.
• Work pace varies and is frequently stressful due to census, patient account types and time frames.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• High school education or equivalent.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• Two (2) years in admitting, business services, scheduling or a related area in an acute care facility comparable to the Medical Center.
• Experience to demonstrate:
o Knowledge of disease categories and medical terminology.
o Knowledge and ability to operate a computer.
o Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
