Nike Principal, Communications, GC in Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong

Overview of the Job: The role is a key leadership member of Nike Greater China Communications Function, responsible for developing long-term communications strategies and execute programs that effectively connect with key stakeholders in HK & TW markets in ways that add value to the business and the company reputation, covering corporate communication, brand/product storytelling, event management, employee communication, media strategy and plan implementation, as well as issue & crises management in the region. The director works closely with the GC Comms teammates and the x-functional teams internally, while building and maintaining good relationships with local media, KOLs, content creators and creative communities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Position Nike as an innovation and growth company delivering breakthrough products and accelerating global impact in our communities

  • Identify and deliver impactful stories to create true distinction for the brand, and to become more relatable to target audiences

  • Engage and maintain relationship with media and key influential individuals to inspire more to make sport a daily habit

  • Alignment with GC & Global on communication hierarchy and message grid, asset deliverable and spokesperson resources

  • Bring local insights to influence Global and GC Comms strategy

  • Constantly monitoring the evolving media landscape in HK & TW and be on the forefront on media consumption behavior to maintain brand relevancy

  • Manage seasonal budget and explore content co-creation opportunities with media and external creative partners

  • Provide communication guidance to senior management in HKTW; lead and manage the response to issues within the region

  • Engage, inspire, and empower HKTW employees through the ongoing elevation of internal and executive communication

  • Lead and coach team

Functional Skill Required:

  • This role will require setting a strategic vision and fully integrated communications strategy

  • This role requires to work collaboratively in a cross-functional and cross-categorical matrix organizational structure.

Experience Required:

  • 10+ Professional experience in high profile communications or media publication roles with at least 2 years in director / content producer role

  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills

  • Experience initiating and driving the ideation process contributing meaningful and innovative strategies

  • Experience leading Communications strategy for major events, media outreach and across multiple vendor relationships

  • Strong general business expertise and proficiency in translating business objective into communications strategies

  • Project management and team building skills

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong writing skills

  • Brand management, consumer marketing and retail expertise

  • Ability to influence people and create new ideas

  • Crisis preparedness and response

  • Nuances of internal communication

  • Sharp strategic and analytical skills

  • Language: Fluent in English, Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese is preferred
