Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Maintenance Repairman 2 in Honesdale, Pennsylvania

Reference #: 4584086 THE POSITION The Department of Transportation is currently looking to hire a Maintenance Repairman 2 who will work under the direct supervision of a Highway Foreman III. In this role, you will be responsible for independently carrying out a range of skilled trade duties related to the maintenance and repair of bridges. This position involves skilled work that spans across various trades and maintenance functions, where you will be tasked with performing both routine and non-routine maintenance, repair, and installation assignments to assist the Wayne County Maintenance Organization. Working under the supervision of a Highway Foreman III, you will carry out various skilled trade duties independently, focusing on the maintenance and repair of bridges. This includes creating rough plans, estimating material quantities, specifying parts for purchase, selecting appropriate tools and equipment, and cutting and placing materials for assigned projects.

You will be required to climb ladders and utilize a wide range of hand and power tools, such as hammers, screwdrivers, air compressors, saws, levels, trowels, hoes, rakes, and other tools commonly used in the trade. Responsibilities also involve performing repair work on bridge structures, which may include tasks like building forms, finishing concrete, welding steel components, and erecting steel. The work environment may involve extreme weather conditions, exposure to various substances, and potential risks of injuries like bruises, cuts, scrapes, sprains, and strains.

The job may necessitate mandatory and voluntary overtime, as well as occasional overnight travel. Additionally, you will be expected to perform other related duties as needed, which may include construction, maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings, equipment, roadways, and bridges. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting job-site issues, determining work processes and tools, disassembling and reassembling equipment and structures, reading blueprints, adhering to safety guidelines, and demonstrating tasks to other trades and maintenance employees. Work will be reviewed for quality, adherence to guidelines, and timeliness upon completion.

Furthermore, you will implement environmental protection requirements during maintenance work activities and fulfill environmental management requirements as designated for the position in environmental training.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Hours may vary based on seasonal operational needs. Winter shifts are 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities. Special Requirements:

This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License. Additional Requirements:
