Overview

Zebra’s enterprise mobile computing platform software team drives the development of software for Enterprise Mobile Computers.

We are looking for a senior engineering manager who has a passion for driving the end to end Engineering Development, automation, frameworks and test echo system of our suite of mobile Computer products from inception to product release.

As a engineering manager, you are responsible for leading a team of geographically diverse set of engineers spanning several countries that specializes in Android development, test automation and test execution. As the engineering leader you are expected to create and manage the global engineering testing strategy for the whole BU including our joint development manufacturing partners, work on test automation framework startegy and drive Android development on specific products.

Your track record must include; experience in managing a multi-sited engineering group, deploying and managing a test automation on multitude of products, leadership in defining test development strategy, identifying and adopting industry leading concepts and methodologies to testing organisation, manage and lead Android Development Projects.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing of the development and test activities within the group of projects.

  • Negotiates the deliverables of the test effort. Work with the internal customers to understand the project scope and expectations. Based on the input, work with stakeholders to define engineering development and test scope for the project. Define and negotiate deliverables of the development and test effort with project teams.

  • Development Test execution, planning and management. Progress monitoring and corrections to the plan necessary to achieve project goals. Communicate status of the development and test activities for the project to project teams and management.

  • Manage change in the project activities resulting from the changes at the project level.

  • Advocate the appropriate level of testability focus in the software development process.

  • Continuous review and recommendations for improvement for status reporting/dashboarding.

  • Monitor and verify the effectiveness of the development and test effort on a project level.

  • Risk/issue management for development and test activities within the project including identification, prevention, monitoring and resolution.

  • Ensures process compliance of the development and test relevant activities within the project.

  • Make sure teams adhre to Agile Development Practices established withing the company.

  • Conduct periodic status checkpoints with internal customers and team to assess progress against plan.

  • Analyze and monitor defect metrics within the release and among releases per product line, identify trends and recommend development and test effectiveness measures and quality conclusions.

  • Advise and assist project management and program management on project status, project risks and their resolutions.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Advises and assists Director of Software Engineering on various policy matters, long term planning, resource requirement planning, resource education/training, HR related matters, and product team related issues.

  • Provide management to offshore resources.

  • Manage resources against activities and resolve resource conflicts.

  • Lead the estimating and implement the control processes to ensure that the team is on target and the correct results are being achieved.

  • Responsible for tracking schedules, milestones, deliverables and action items and will coordinate management and technical meetings.

  • Assist in the selection of the appropriate development and test resources to complete project tasks according to plan.

  • Act as a coach and mentor to team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline preferred. Minimum of 10+ years of engineering/testing experience witth minimum of 4 years of experience in engineeing leadership position

  • 5+ years in software development testing in multiple environmentsincluding Andorid Development, Test Automation, test planning, control, execution, and quality assessment.

  • Experience in leading or managing short and long term development and test projects. Lead or Management of multiple simultaneous projects. Good time-management skills.

  • Experience in carrying out test stratigies for Android or Similar Mobile Operarting system products.

  • Hands on experience of leading programming languages such as C/C++ or Java and knowledge of scripting languages such as python with some shell scripting knowlege.

  • Hands on Experience with Android / Linux and Vairents of Linux

  • Agile Development Model exprience

  • Knowledge of Test Development framworks for Android and Unit Testing Frameworks such as JUnit
