The Panel Builder is responsible for assembling, installing, and testing electrical control panels according to engineering specifications and industry standards. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, wiring panels, and ensuring that all components are securely and accurately installed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Panel Assembly: Assemble electrical control panels by following engineering drawings and schematics. This includes mounting components, wiring, and connecting electrical devices.

  • Wiring and Installation: Wire control panels and enclosures in compliance with electrical codes and standards. Install and connect electrical components such as relays, switches, and circuit breakers.

  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Perform functional testing of assembled panels to ensure proper operation. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues and make necessary adjustments or repairs.

  • Quality Control: Inspect completed panels to verify they meet specifications and quality standards. Document and report any discrepancies or defects.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of panel builds, including wiring diagrams, component lists, and testing results. Update documentation as needed.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure timely completion of projects. Communicate effectively to address any design or build issues.

  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory of panel-building materials and components. Reorder supplies as necessary to avoid project delays.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in electrical or electronics technology is preferred.

  • Experience: Previous experience in panel building, electrical assembly, or a related field is highly desirable. Familiarity with industrial control systems and automation is a plus.

  • Skills:

  • Strong understanding of electrical wiring, schematics, and control systems.

  • Proficient with hand tools and electrical testing equipment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.

  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy components, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions (e.g., temperature variations).

Preferred Attributes:

  • Certification in electrical or electronics technology (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Electrical Technician).

  • Experience with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and other control systems.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, UL).

Salary range:

$39,500.00 - $63,000.00
