Summary: The Dealer must exhibit a friendly, helpful and courteous manner while providing the guest with a pleasant gaming experience. The Dealer is responsible for ensuring the safeguarding of casino assets, dealing table games professionally, accurately, and according to policies and procedures of the Table Games Department and the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino. Each applicant is responsible for completing 120 hours of Dealer certification training and pass an audition for employment at the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Exhibits a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when interacting with our guests and fellow associates.

  • Assists customers with any problems or requests.

  • Ensures the highest standards of guest service; utilizing the 3 Feathers Guest Service Program. Ensures efficiency and security are maintained in accordance with the policies and procedures set forth by the company.

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, dynamic personality and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ensures the safeguarding of casino assets.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum Qualification: High school Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required.

Training/Dealer Certification: The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort will provide on-site dealer certification training. Interested applicants must attend 120 hours of intensive training. Training will provide entry-level professionals with exposure to a wide variety of skills and training to prepare for a focused career as a Table Games Dealer. In addition, the course will teach participants the fundamentals of dealing blackjack with emphasis placed on card totaling, correct chip cutting and handling techniques, identify the value of each color chip, card shuffling and card placement and learning to read the total value of a bet and proper pit procedures. Special attention will be given to game and accounting procedures, accuracy and speed. During this time students will also learn the fundamentals to become a successful Table Games Dealer. Upon completion of the course participants will be certified to deal in Black Jack.

Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills are important, and participants must demonstrate quick recall and the ability to calculate without aids. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Proficient in math skills to determine winners, losers and/or handling financial transactions

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; at a fixed work station for long periods of time. The associate must be able to reach distances of two feet and or occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. The position exists in a casino work environment where there is frequent and regular exposure to noise and cigarette smoke from the casino floor.

Licensing Policy: All candidates must be 18 years of age when applying. All positions require candidates to obtain and maintain a New York State certification and a Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Class III License or a Tribal Gaming Work Permit which requires a criminal background check to be used solely for employment purposes. Failure to disclose information could result in rescinding of job offer.

Drug Testing Policy: Successful candidates for employment must submit to and pass a drug test for illegal substances prior to employment being confirmed. In case of a positive result, the candidate is not eligible for employment with the Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort.
