Abbott Ethics & Compliance Manager in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Summary:

Role : The Compliance Manager will support the Ethics & Compliance Country Manager to develop and implement the Compliance framework and program across the Affiliate. Work collaboratively with personnel in all divisions and at all levels of the Affiliate on Compliance related matters. The Compliance Manager will develop and work on the enhancement of the Affiliate's Compliance Monitoring Plan and Compliance Training Program, Managing and Improving Affiliate compliance policies and procedures, supporting the Affiliate integration projects as a risk, control and business process expert. The Compliance Manager will also be the assist in compliance questions and counseling within the Affiliate and will also support in Data Privacy and Area key projects that assigned by line manager

  • Reporting directly to: Ethics & Compliance Country Manager

  • High frequency of interaction: Level Management, Region, Cross Function, Team and External Partners

Core job responsibilities:

Main responsibilities:

  • Implement, manage and interpret policies, procedures and practices across the Affiliate.

  • Assist the Affiliate in integration projects including risk, control and business process improvement aspects.

  • Assist to conduct the annual Compliance Risk Assessment for Affiliate. Develop, implement, and execute a comprehensive monitoring plan to ensure compliance with Affiliate policies and procedures, including applying the data analytics where practical to develop effective tools supporting the monitoring program. Provide guidance and consult the business in preparing corrective action and remediation plans to address the detected findings and ensuring timely implementation of such plans.

  • Develop annual field monitoring plan and ensure the execution as plan, timely review and highlight suspicious or abnormal trend for proper corrective/preventive actions. Working closely with business to update and highlight issue detected for improvement.

  • Assist to develop the implement the Compliance Training Program at Affiliate.

  • Assist the Compliance Country Manager to consult proactively with business teams in order to provide guidance on proposed commercial programs, identify legal, regulatory and other compliance issues, analyze alternatives and propose solutions to the businesses.

  • Participate in and/or lead, as appropriate, investigations into potential compliance infractions. Work with the Affiliate to implement remediation plans arising out of local and Corporate investigations.

  • Assist the Affiliate with compliance audits, including support and advice regarding fulfillment of auditors’ requests. Support the Affiliate in evaluating and responding to audit findings and recommendations, and guide the business in preparing corrective action and remediation plans and ensuring timely implementation of such plans

  • Support Compliance Country Manager in deploying and review the Data Privacy programs.

  • Provide ethics & compliance advice at all levels of all businesses within the Affiliate.

  • Organize ethics and compliance records, documents and files, and maintain document databases.

  • Travel within Vietnam and internationally as required to support offices outside of Ho Chi Minh City and other affiliates. Estimated travel 15-20%.

  • Other tasks or Ad hoc compliance projects per assigned by Line Manager as necessary.

MINIMUM BACKGROUND/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Work Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Above. Having at least 9-10 years’ experience in compliance, auditing, internal control, risk management (work as similar position is plus)

  • Ability to understand and analyze complex problems.

  • Able to work independently and strong at adaptability.

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills

  • Stakeholder management: able to manage across functions as well as external parties e.g. suppliers.

  • Critical problem-solving ability. Capability in making decisions on the information available, which is not always in black and white.

Language Skills

  • English proficient

Computer Skills:

  • Able to utilize computer programs such as notes, excel and PowerPoint to compile, build, analyses and consolidate system data; good at PBI is a plus.
