Davis Tool is seeking a System Administrator to help support our multi-platform environment. This full time position works as part of our small IT team to update our server and workstation configuration as needed.

The position supports computers running Windows, Linux and MacOS. Candidates must be familiar with a variety of operating systems, their use in and enterprise environment, and comfortable working from both the GUI and the command line. Candidates should be familiar with the use of routers and firewalls to provide a secure environment.

Experience

  • Minimum two years of experience supporting multiple operating systems in an enterprise environment.

    Responsibilities

  • Support users locally and in our remote office

  • Track support cases with the company trouble ticket system

  • Manage inventory of consumable supplies (toner, keyboards, mice, etc)

  • Track software updates from multiple vendors, test and stage updates in a timely fashion

  • Configure silent installers for remote deployment with MSIEXEC

  • Manage and troubleshoot printer related issues (parts replacement, paper jams, managing service requests with manufacturer, etc)

  • Identify and upgrade telecom wiring (replace Cat3 with Cat6 wiring, run wiring in existing office and cubicle environment, fix broken or improperly terminated outlets and cables, fix vertical cabling to always terminate to an outlet, etc)

    Desired Skills

  • People skills, ability to interact with users in a friendly and agreeable manner

  • Ability to troubleshoot OS issues for Windows and macOS

  • Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory networks

  • Familiarity with a variety of office software (MS Office, LibreOffice, Internet browsers)

  • Familiarity with MSIEXEC for silently deploying applications and updates

  • Ability to routinely lift/move objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance

  • Ability to work on a ladder up to 12’ in height, for cabling

  • Familiarity with terminating Cat6 network cabling (keystone jacks, RJ45)

  • Familiarity with deploying IP Phones (provisioning, firmware updates, etc.).
