Why Sentinel? The Sentinel Program is an enormous and complex Mega-Project modernizing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. Without any doubt, Sentinel is one of the DoD s most important acquisition efforts for the next decade, if not longer. It includes a complete refurbishment of hundreds of aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly designed, technologically advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command and control system as well as vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the decades ahead. Sentinel is the Department of Defense s newest official program of record, having achieved Milestone B. It enjoys broad, strong support at the national level. It is a long-term project - the weapon system will deploy over a nine-year period beginning in approximately 2026, and remain operational until at least 2075. Sentinel is a career-defining program that will present unique and challenging opportunities that simply are not available with smaller projects.

BAE Systems is looking for a Weapon System Certification Branch Manager to join our team at Hill AFB, UT for an exciting opportunity supporting the acquisition of the Sentinel system to replace MM III.

The Weapon System Certification Branch Manager will provide technical expertise, consultation, and program management as part of the Sentinel Weapon System Certification Branch and augment organic resources by providing weapon system expertise support to the government customer in maintaining the intelligence, defensive cybersecurity, system security, program protection, human systems integration, and supply chain programs for the Sentinel weapon system in accordance with requirements detailed in Department of Defense, United States Strategic Command, and Air Force directives, manuals and instructions.

The specific responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing mechanisms for monitoring progress and for intervention and problem solving with other program managers and clients, including extensive contributions to proposal efforts when requested by management

  • Developing and managing schedules, preparing status reports, and reviewing status of projects with BAE Systems and government customer management teams

  • Assessing issues and developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives

  • Performing as a member of an Integrated Product Team (IPT), accountable to the government Program Manager, providing support for Air Force Strategic Systems, including monitoring for compliance with applicable Department of Defense, United States Strategic Command, and Air Force directives, manuals and instructions

  • Evaluating plans and criteria for technical activities in his/her specialty and recommending alternatives as required to comply with customer and company obligations. Leads projects or segments of major projects responsible for achievement of schedule, cost, and technical performance objectives

  • Identifying, minimizing and managing risks to all areas within theWeapon System CertificationBranch

  • Attending conferences, meetings, and contractor involved working groups to represent assigned activity. Developing working group meeting agendas, preparing and consolidating briefing materials, meeting minutes, and answers to action items assigned by other agencies or organizations

  • Directly interface with internal and external weapon system design, test, certification, and authorization agencies

  • Conducting research in areas which require a moderate level of expertise and knowledge in areas of specialization and some related fields, and maintaining knowledge in area of specialization and awareness of developments in the remaining related fields

  • Ensure quarterly objectives and key results are satisfied and engage with customer to draft, modify, and close as required

  • Directly manage a team of diverse professionals, provide resource advise to senior leadership, disseminate and execute corporate policies, and work with Human Resources on personnel issues

  • Responsible for ensuring tasks from government customer are properly assigned, monitored, and completed on schedule using a Confluence/JIRA workspace

  • Performing various other duties as assigned by senior management

This position is located at 6008 Wardleigh Rd, Bldg. 1580, Hill Air Force Base, UT 84056. This position is a full-time on-site position that does not lend itself to hybrid work conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 10 years in direct Program Management experience; 8 years with a Master's degree

  • Knowledge of Intelligence, system security and/or Cybersecurity

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance and all special program accesses. The criteria for obtaining a security clearance is set by the US Government. You must be a US Citizen.

  • Able to work independently, demonstrate strong initiative, and organize daily tasks with minimal supervision

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) commensurate with expected mid- to senior-level civilian and military participants from various U.S. Government agencies

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook

  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering or STEM related field desired

  • Excellent cognitive, communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills.

  • At least 5 years experience leading technical teams

  • Experience managing large projects

  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills ref: setting expectations, managing work, and lead individuals and teams

  • Demonstrated self-discipline to plan and prioritize their own work with successful results

  • An active U.S. government Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI level clearance.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Graduate degree in Engineering or a STEM related technical field

  • MBA degree and/or PMP certification

  • ASEP or other comparable professional certification

  • Active U.S. DoD Top Secret Clearance

  • Experience managing within, or entire, DoD acquisition programs

  • Experience with technical systems, systems engineering, or business

  • ICBM Weapon System experience (Sentinel and/or Minuteman)

  • Specific knowledge and application of USAF SEAM principles and processes

  • General knowledge of MS Project, Primavera or other scheduling tools

  • General knowledge of requirements management tools such as DOORS

  • General knowledge of product lifecycle management tools such as Teamcenter

  • General knowledge of model-based systems engineering processes and applications such as Cameo EA

  • General knowledge of software development, integration and deployment in a DevSecOps and/or Cloud environment

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $100530 - $170910

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
