Air Force Materiel Command PARALEGAL SPECIALIST in Hill AFB, Utah

The primary purpose of this position, PARALEGAL SPECIALIST NH-0950-02, is to provide a broad range of senior paralegal support to the Staff Judge Advocate (SJA), the Chief of Military Justice, the Chief of Adverse Actions, and other attorneys engaged in the practice of criminal law, adverse administrative actions, and administrative separations. Responsibilities Manage the Administrative Separation Program. Serves as the Victim and Witness Assistance Program Coordinator. Provide support to the legal assistance program. Prepare legal reviews and summaries of analyses. Compose powers of attorney, determining type required for the situation and counsel clients on use and legal consequences, under supervision of attorneys. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is described as working knowledge of rules, procedures, policies, and programs of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate to perform the procedural and administrative work of the organization, such as preparing and editing legal documents and administrative correspondence, maintaining files and records, and assembling information for various legal documents and reports as required. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Equivalent combination of successfully completed post high school education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the position as outlined above that meets the requirements of the position NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of rules, procedures, policies, and programs of the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate to perform the procedural and administrative work of the organization, such as preparing and editing legal documents and administrative correspondence, maintaining files and records, and assembling information for various legal documents and reports as required. 2. Knowledge of and ability to research, analyze, and interpret legal documents and apply the information to case preparation. 3. Knowledge of principles and techniques of legal research, familiarity with legal terminology and general legal materials, and proficiency in the use of such knowledge. 4. Ability to make legally sound logical decisions and skill in applying the law to specific situations. 5. Knowledge of federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Additional Information Hill Air Force Base provides worldwide engineering and logistics management for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and the Minuteman III ICBM, and performs depot maintenance of the F-16, A-10, and C-130 Hercules aircraft.
